COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ready to take it to the next level? This DIPA is fueled by hop flavor and aroma with enough bitterness to back the big malt body. Enjoy responsibly, this one’s aptly named.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2014 Nice and smooth. Somewhat lightly hopped for a double ipa. Still easily drinkable and keep finding myself ordering it again and again.

Moderately hoppy. Relatively sweet. Clean finish. Very drinkable. I liked it.

Draft at 5 Church Restaurant in Charlotte, 11/19/14
I wasn’t too impressed by this one. It seemed like a flawed example of the style as well as a slightly overly boozy one. This isn’t a horrible beer or anything, but it was one of my least favorite new DIPAs I have tried recently. I definitely didn’t order a second.

Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - OCT 17, 2014
Serving: Draft at Texacali Taco & Tequila Bar. It pours a deep red color with a thick light tan head. The nose is on the malty side for the style. Maybe a little pine in there. The flavor seems to be weak on the hop side with just a little bit of piney bitterness, but plenty of caramel, toasted malt, and a touch of booze. Not a bad beer by any means, but certainly not an IIPA.

Pours a slightly hazy, dark amber/light brown with a generous off-white head. Light malt aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet. No hops in the flavor or aroma anywhere. Nothing going on here resembling any sort of IIPA. Thin. A Strong Ale of some sort?

Draft: this is a great double IPA...nice big malty flavor to balance out the hops. This is a great beer, and very well balanced. Lots of flavor.

Split a 22oz bomber with some co-workers that I brought back from NC over Labor Day weekend. Poured a dark bronze color with a small white tan head. Aroma was some heavy resin notes, pine, boozy caramel notes. Flavor was nice heavy malt notes, some caramel, resin, pine. Herbal. Pretty tasty.

On tap at Honey Tupelo Cafe. Translucent dark amber with small beige head. Aroma is grapefruit hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is grapefruit, some resin, a little herbal hops, and long bitter finish. Not one the best for the style, but not bad.

deep amber color - almost brown; piney hop and caramel malt aroma; lots of piney hops on a medium-bodied malt base
