3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dphoxie (59) - North Carolina, USA - NOV 14, 2012On draft at the brewery’s taproom. I am just starting to really be into smoked beers. I used to think it was weird to taste smoke, now I love it. This beer has a perfect balance between the base beer and the smoke aspect. Not too smokey, just right. I didn’t get a whole lot of smoke in the smell but the smoke sort of builds on the palate as you slowly kill the pint. I really enjoyed this beer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 NachlamSie (2370) - Tennessee, USA - MAY 30, 2013
Pint at the brewery. Pours hazy amber. I could use more smoke in the aroma, but the fruity cherry smoke that is present is very nice. Malts are very biscuity which plays well with the smoke. There are even hints at coffee in the finish. Sessionable and enjoyable, just needs more smoke.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 emacgee (3506) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Clean amber brown pour with a thin white head. Rich smoky/meaty nose with a light grainy sweetness. Smoky and malty notes in the flavor. Lightly sweet on the finish. Very nice.

Hickory Hops 2013 - Amber pour with a wispy head. The nose is of cherry malt. Easy drinking, light toasted malt with cherry essence and other citrus accents. Clean finish, just a hint of smoked bitters. Light body and refreshing. Nothing overtly complex.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 maxwelldeux (2368) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Draught. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown with a fairly small head. Nose is fairly smokey, but not so overpowering that you think you’re about to drink liquid smoke. Taste is actually light and clean, and you can get just a hint of that nuttiness coming through. This might be new favorite smoked beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 freekyp (1418) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - MAR 16, 2013
An interesting pour, Triple C’s Amber melds light smokiness with a fruity profile resulting in a very drinkable combs that is better than the sum of its parts. Pours a light brown with a small white ring of head. Well balanced with a light malt sweetness twinged with smoke rides out a slow long finish. Nice an very sessionable.

Growler at beer study, thanks Jd. Cloudy opaque amber with thin off white lace. Nose is fruity upfront, minuscule smoke (only cuz I’m looking for it). Flavor shows the smoke a little better, light smoked ham, toffee, smoked meaty finish. This grew on me and I enjoyed it.

Draft at the source. Hazy dark amber color, small white edge head. Aroma of burnt toast. Taste is burnt caramel with a smokey edge. Better than your average amber.
