This high gravity ale was brewed with Belgian Special B, German Chocolate malts and Flaked Oats. Honey and Lactose were added in the boil. After fermentation it was aged for several weeks on oak chips and then infused with locally roasted coffee from Magnolia Coffee Company.

Pours rich, warm sable with a thick and frothy tan head. Aroma fills the nose with quality roast coffee, toasted malt, molasses, and subtle honey and woody notes. I could inhale this all day! Flavor does not disappoint - toasted malt, quality roast coffee, chocolate, oak and honey notes dance across the tongue. Mouthfeel has firm body and fairly good fizz, leaving a finish that has coffee, roast malt and woody tones. Danged near perfect, as far as i am concerned - probably would keep you up all night if not for the alcohol.

Thick black pour with some faint light showing on the edges. A little shake on the pour gives rise to one finger of mocha tan head. Aroma is dominated by coffee, big time. Roasty with some dark fruit skins and a creamy dessert-ish note on the end. Some toasted coconut as well. Medium full bodied with a big showing of coffee. Some dark fruit and burnt sugar on the back of the mouth with a touch of alcohol. Molasses.

Bottle: Pours black with a dark brown ring. Rich, dark, roast coffee bean aroma. Flavour is equally rich, deep, roast coffee malt, bitter chocolate, licorice. Alcohol is noticeable, but mild and nicely balanced. Great stuff.

Decently rich porter with an added coffee element. Honey comes through a little in the aroma with some floral notes. Creamy texture and big body. Nice straight up porter.

On tap at Dandelion Market in Charlotte. Pours a black color with off white head. Coffee, roasty, slight burnt ashy aromas. Coffee, chocolate, roasty, alcohol flavors. Thick, goopy mouthfeel. Alcohol very present in flavor. Very solid.

My Bottom Line:
Rich coffee develops roastiness and minty accents in this comfortable dessert of an Imperial Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the blackness.
-The flavor profile is not as deep as the aroma.
-The finish is sweet and easy. Bitterness is not prevalent.
-While this one doesn’t have a huge following, it deserves recognition in the vastly popular Coffee Imperial Stout universe.

On tap at World of Beer, Charlotte .
