3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brown pour, huge head. Big beer - not boozy but overly sweet! Toffee and smoke aroma. Malty, toffee candy sweetness, a bit fruity. Medium body. It’s good, but not what you’d exepct from a scottish style ale - I prefer to stay on the happy side of diabetes.

Sampler from bottle at 2014 Price Hill Beer Fest, tasted on February 16, 2014. Dark mahogany hue, strong boozy nose, smooth but flavorful bourbon/vanilla/malt flavor. The abv is quite noticeable. Very enjoyable beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mild treacle and currant nose. Clear ruby brown, enormous tan head. I totally misjudged the pour and it overflowed a bit. Medium body, warm. Currant and plum on a malty, cereal base. Well rounded, balanced, and multi-dimensional. More fruity than most scottish/scotch ales, but that isn’t so bad. A couple bombers of this tasty brew will set you right.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample at Listermann. Pours a cloudy dark brown-amber with a small off-white head that sticks around for a while. Notes of dark fruits (berries, dates, raisins), caramel, brown sugar, candied nuts, and booze. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, boozy mouthfeel that warms the palate. Moderate carbonation. Big, strong Scotch ale.
