This rating is for people who enjoy sweet dessert beers - if you’re not looking for that in a brown ale, disregard!
On tap in a small snifter, at Tap House Grill in Kenwood.
A: Arrived in the snifter as a deep brown with cherry wood highlights. The head was thin and pale, with bubbles on the larger side. Lacing on the snifter was minimal during consumption.
S: The nose opens with heavy, heady sweetness, wreathed around nuttiness, cocoa, and warm toasty malt. There’s a faint coppery tang to it as well. The scent doesn’t bother hiding that this is a dessert beer.
T: The sweetness from the nose is even more pronounced in the first moments of tasting this beer, which opens with a rush of lactose mixed with dark chocolate, marshmallow, and a serious dose of hazelnut. As the middle hits, there is a detectable tinge of coppery metal, which remains through the finish. The malt presence is never what one would call pronounced, but it makes a nice counterpoint to the barrage of sweetness, and lingers a bit after the finish. It was not unlike drinking a s’more dunked in hazelnut syrup, between the chocolate, marshmallow, and toasty malt.
M: As close to perfect as a beer can feel, full and rich and creamy, all the way through. It was smooth, just carbonated enough.
O: A delightful dessert beer, sweet without being overly cloying, and rich in flavor. The lack of hop presence is a plus for this beer. Will repeat.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This may be my favorite beer ever. Great body, high on alcohol content, but doesn’t taste like alcohol. The hazelnut shines without overpowering and it’s got a great malt to hop ratio for just the right bitterness to complement the complexity.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a brown color with a beige head. The aroma was of malts, nuts, vanilla, caramel and some chocolate. The taste was similar with caramel malts, nuts, chocolate, vanilla a some bitterness. Very nice.

Can’t drink more than a little of this, but it is great. Deep copper pour. Aroma reminds me of bread pudding. Vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate. Taste follows nose with a little alcohol. Great stuff.

Bottle… RBSG 2014… This beer rocks!… Pours new-penny copper with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma is a luxuriant intermingling of vanilla, hazelnut and chocolate crème. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is a mélange of hazelnut, chocolate crème and cream soda. Heaps of vanilla and a healthy measure of alcohol in here as well. The alcohol is smooth and warming, not annoying. World class beer here!

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ RBSG 2014: (Thanks DrSilverworm) Pours a clean brown hue okay head. Big hazelnut and toffee vapours with a hint of milk chocolate malt balls and some dark fruit as well. A tad boozy and aggressive on the palate with a lot of sugary and nutty goodness. A first I was taken back by this but I ended up liking it (but did wished it was more around 7-8%)
