Cask; Regular.
Hoppy mild; with a dry roasty flavour, a good body with hints of fruit, a balanced bittersweet aftertaste.

Chestnut brown, a touch bitter and sour. Roasted aroma with light hops. Ehhh...nothing special.

Cask @ The Coal Hole. Deep mahogany with a small, creamy white head. The nose is woody strawberry malts, brown sugar. The taste is red apple, rich wood polish, dusty nuts. Fermenting plums and toffee. Quite yeasty. Medium body, soft. Overall, there’s a bizarre yeastiness to this beer that didn’t sit well with me.

This review is from the 30th CAMRA Cotswold beer Fest (2006). Up against Bateman’s Dark Mild, it came second in my opinion. Red-Black in colour with no head (it was gravity feed into my glass, by a lady who was not too great at the job). The aroma was there, but you had to search for it, roasted malt maybe, a touch of berry’s, not sure which type. Tasted like a Mild should, malty and a hint of caramel. I will have another if our paths cross, but I will not be searching high and low for it!

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours dark amber to brown. The nose is initially quite expressive with resin and toffee being the main thing. The taste has more of the same. As the pint goes down, the flavours generally seem to become flatter. The palate is medium bodied and textured with quite a cloying finish. Overall, not for me, I’m afraid.

Dark brown colour with a tan head. Mild roasted nose. Moderate sweet with some roasted malt notes. A bit waterish.

Sampled this mild at the Troon Beer Festival in September 2003. Loved the name as did the rest of the punters, so it went great guns at the festival. Cask, gravity dispense. Cracking colour, a deep ruby black with thin creamy head. Strong fruity malty aroma with thin mouthfeel. Poor lacing. Dark malt complexes evident with burnt black malt on initial taste followed by slight blackcurrant fruit and a hint of caramel. Short dusty hop prickle noted in the brief aftertaste. Sweet fruit flavours balanced by slight roasted coffee notes on the finish. Reminded me of a weak Broughton Black Douglas? Well recommended.

Cask at London Drinker 2012. Pours clear, golden-brown with a small, bubbly head. Some dirty earth and light, burnt grass in the nose. Faintly sweet flavor with burnt malts and earthy bitterness. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Semi-dry finish, light tang, faint plastic, dirt, and burnt grass. Very light cocoa. Uninspiring.

Cask. Dark brown with a slight white head. Fruity nose; plum, banana, raisin. Malty mouth; smoky, full and smooth. Cakey and full.

On cask at The Bow Bar. Pours a dark ruby colour with a decent light tan head. Aroma of Weetabix malt and alcohol. Similar malty flavour with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.
