Draft at Beer Revolution for the John Martin tribute event. It pours a dark orange/red color with a nice off white head. The aroma is very tart with raspberries, red grapes, and a light vinous character. Touches of vinegar. The flavor is very acetic and fruity with some vinegar and good dry funkiness before a really nice pinot barrel finish. Barrel notes are very subdued. A bit too acetic, but thankfully it avoids any off notes of nail polish remover. I enjoyed this one.

Tasted at brewery. Nice medium brown with a creamy white head. Good strong bourbon and red wine aroma with sour fruits and dark fruits evident. Smooth flavors of sour fruits, light green apple, grapes, mild bourbon and red wine character finishing fairly clean. Pretty good.

On tap. Pours with a small frothy head that fades quickly, over a mostly clear copper-bronze body. Pretty complex aroma of vinegar, red wine, oak, brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla, and a light sweetness. Bready. Flavors are grainy, bready, wheat, Cheerio cereal (I associate with my sours that are too young), red wine. Medium sourness. Dry with a medium to light body. Lightly carbonation. This one tastes a bit young, and I feel would benefit from some extra age (too clean up the cereal flavor and to increase the acidity/funk).

A: The beer pours a dark amber color with a thin and short lived off-white head. S: Immediately after smelling this, I canít help but think stale popcorn with a little of the fake butter on top. There is some mild vinegar and hints of sweet malt, and some oak too. I donít really get any of the specific barrel flavors, though. T: The popcorn character is pervasive on the palate as well. My girlfriend also said dish water, but I didnít get that. Not really sour other than some hints of vinegar. Mild vanilla and some oak notes. At least the flavor isnít buttery... M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation. O: Unfortunately I canít recommend this one which is too bad since I was looking forward to trying it.
