Tasted on tap at the 8th Annual Triple Rock Firkin Fest on 4/9/2011. This Barley wine pours a medium red amber color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, toffee, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Barley wine. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Hides the alcohol well. A nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a sweet fruity aroma and a decent tan head. There is a slightly sweet smoked malt flavor with a very dry bitter chocolate finish. The alcohol is pretty well concealed.

Draft. Black beer with ruby highlights and a nice tan head. Big summer fruit aroma. Roast and chocolate flavor with summer fruit and earth. Medium-plus bodied. Roast and malt lingers with chocolate, earth, and coffee.

On tap at Triple Rock poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of toffee, burnt carmel and light dried fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth dry finish.

Sampled at Triple Rock on a chance meeting with badlizard! Not much else to add to what he said except the huge bitter hoppy finish and potent alcohol presence that you often get with a young barley wine. Very tasty and fairly complex brew.
