3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Creamy but not syrupy on pallate, with the aroma of coffee and molasses. The sweet molasses up front with slightly bitter finish. The color is black as to be expected. Nothing super special but still good imperial stout.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught @ Triple Rock. Dark, watery pour. Malts, molasses, plum, chocolate, brown sugar. All of which sounds great but, as usual with this brewery, the resulting beer is too thin, the flavor not rounded out, for it to be what it wants to be.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2011 version on tap at the brewery. It pours very dark with some ruby tinged edges in the light. The aroma is alcoholic with some dates, molasses, and licorice. The flavor is very sweet and surprisingly light on the palate for the 13% ABV. Theres some powerful flavors in here with brown sugar, molasses, licorice, prunes, dates, fig, etc. I got a very strong hop profile in the background. It’s covered mostly by the alcohol, but a sweet orangy fruitiness in the finish reminds me strangely of Darkness.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Triple Rock. Dark black body. Small foamy head bubbles up on top. No aroma. Alcoholic aftertaste. Warming in the throat. Flavors of plum and brown sugar. Thin body masks the 13% alcohol. Lingering sugaryness. Bit of a hop character. Honestly, I want to pour this over some vanila ice cream!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub pouring deep darkness with thin ruby like mahogany edges and thin light tan head. The light aroma has sweet rich dark fruitiness and lesser amounts of dark roasted malts. The taste quickly brings up slick dark fruity sweetness with over ripe cherries, prunes, juicy ripe plums and some date fruit sweetness in there too for good measure. A moment here and there thin layers of roastiness, black strap molasses and black licorice timidly surface attempting to create some balance to the sweet dark estery onslaught. It stays very sweet and rich with dark fruitiness deep into the after taste. This is smooth sweet rich stuff.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
From tap at the brewpub. Pours pitch black with a minimal tan head. Slight boozy and dark malty aroma. Sweet dark malt flavoured, clear alcohol presence. Dark roasted malt flavoured mixed with a slight sticky sweetness. Too overly sweet and sticky into the finish mixed with alcohol notes. Not my thing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a thin beige head and a treacle aroma. The flavor starts sweet, with chocolate, vanilla and some alcohol, then finishes dry. Complex and tasty.
