beerguy101 (3488), Newark, California, USA May 4, 2008 Tasted at the 5th Annual (2008) Triple Rock Firkin Fest. This spiced ale poured a medium amber color from the firkin. Small sized white head. Aroma is caramel, fruity, sweet and spicy. A light to medium bodied holiday ale. The malts are caramel and fruity. The hops were earthy and floral. Lightly spiced. Nice soft carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
JorisPPattyn (4490), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 9, 2008 Beautiful deep red-burgundy beer; smallish yellow-brown head. Hoppy nose, with dark malts & chocolate. Aroma as from dark green leaves - holly? Hop tea: with malt, aromatic hops, bitterhops, and bitter leaf vegetables as Roman salad or spinach. Good balance. Spices, retronasal, are unidentifyable. Medium bodied at best. Weak point of this beer is its rather thinnish body, beefed-up by the spices. Thank God ( and Rodger D.) this bears no resemblance to their I. Wit. This one is quite passable! bhensonb (3004), Woodland, California, USA Dec 26, 2007 Draft at the brewpub, the day after Xmas. Light caramel aroma. Reddish tinged amber color with a respectable beige/tan head. Nice pine note over roasted caramel. The spice has a strong evergreen direction. Like juniper. Clean and refreshing. Drinks easier and more flavorfully than many a Xmas ale. bb (2131), Martinez, California, USA Jul 23, 2007 Draft. Rich mahogony beer with a nice off-white head. Spice and malt aroma. Xmas spice flavor with caramel malt backing. Spice lingers. Medium body. Standard Xmas spice beer.
