GABF 2007: Poured a clear amber color with an off-white head. Light fruit and chocolate make up the aroma. Milk chocolate flavor with toasty and nutty malt. medium body.

Another great nutty, stoney, scotch ale. That seems to be their specialty. Very good stuff.

(On tap) Claimed to be 7.6% ABV. Clear, orangey brown with an off-white head. Nutty aroma. Fairly full-bodied with an extremely soft mouthfeel. Malty, nutty character with some alcohol. The finish is dry. 200307

Draft. Rich amber beer with an off-white head. Low malty aroma. Caramel, cocoa flavor with a bit of light citrus hop backing. Lots of malt, but hops linger. Medium-light bodied and easy drinking.

Clear copper body with minimal white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, cherry, some herbal/grapefruit. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, grapefruit/herbal, light cherry, mild alcohol. Medium-full body.

Tap. Hazy brown ale with a faint nose of biutterscotch. Leafy tatse. sweet start with not much hops. Not well balanced. Lighter bodied lacking in something. (June 2004).

(strong beer month ’04 in san francisco) This english style ale pours copper colored. Very smooth for the high abv but lacking any distinguishable flavors. A bit sweet with some caramel.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2003 Tap. First rating (6,3,6,3,15) Amber color with a laced creamy head. Malty caramel. Not much fruit in this scotch ale, but a nice rich malty beer. Re-Rate (6,3,7,3,14) at the brewpub. Brown color with a tan head. Malty, caramel, wood, and a touch of fruit.

A fan of English strong ales since the mid 70’s when I slammed my 1st one. Robust malt nose, some sweetness, and a nice bite that lingers long on the palate.
