3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at SF Beer Week Opening Gala. Pour is cloudy golden with a foamy white head. Aroma and flavor are both a bit funky - dark fruit, Belgian yeast, cloves, spice, raisins, and booze. Finish is a bit sweeter than the body.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy golden color with a thick head and lots of lace. Funky aroma Is almost off-putting, but there’s a hint of fruit in there. Flavor is mellow bitterness, with dried fruit notes. Smooth.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
FROM NOTES: August 9, ’12. Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a "Beer Hunter" tulip glass.
A: Smells like a tripel - deep sweetness, clove and the standard Belgian spices, though slightly modified, with a hint of allspice.
A: Pours a medium-dark orangish gold. Clear at first and then cloudy with yeast at the end of the bottle. Only about a finger of off-white foam formed and then settled to ring. Bits of lacing.
T: Starts with a mix of Belgian yeast and banana flavor with some spices mixed in. Through the middle a bit stronger spices come through with some fruity esters and lemon flavor and fades to finish with a slightly muddled mix of yeast and spices.
P: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and crisp.
O: A plesant, well made Belgian on a mountain of hop bombs.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Rogue Public House, SF. Hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Good lacing too. Aroma suggests something sweet and fruity and the taste delivers it. A bit too heavy on the banana yeastiness which makes it feel like an amped-up hefeweizen. Tasty though.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
~Strong malty caramel/toffee aroma with floral and resinous hops. Smells like a hoppy Werthers Original candy.
~Pours a murky honey color with long lasting creamy off white head.
~Yeasty flavors of clove and other spice dominate over the caramel maltiness and resinous hops.
~medium bodied with medium CO2, lasting bitter hop finish.
~Enjoyable brew. Honestly could do without the strong hop bitterness. Prefer classic style Belgian Tripels, but I still do like this.

Pours a hazy golden, with a white head that quickly faded. Aroma of yeast, gum, light banana, and lavender. Floral front and herbal-hop finish. Rich, coating palate. Funky, good. Jazz88, you’re #1. Thinking of Walt, who was buried today. RIP.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Dark straw, dirty, thin sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Just as the description states, a soft alcohol nose up front, with a bit of black currant emerging as I start to sip this one.   Very warming, but not hot.   Pale breadiness is how I would describe the underlying beer.   Oh, and some heat.   Very warming for an 8% beer, but again, not real alcoholic on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Has a soft hop aspect to it too.   Finishes without the mustiness, yeastiness, or floral aspect that I get out of Belgians, but thankfully its not mealy, which so many US versions are.   Pretty straight forward and simple.   Wished the Black Currants were more pronounced tho.
