Triple Voodoo Inception is based on a Belgian Tripel recipe but is distinctly different from other Trappist ales. Inception is bright and clear with a sharp alcohol note in the beginning and an added twist of black currant in the center of the flavor profile. The beer finishes clean and has a solid malty backbone. This unique flavor profile was achieved using a special hop varietal. The high hop load also makes it reminiscent of an IPA and gives it that unique California characteristics.

Sampled on tap. A really nice brew that has a Belgian traditional flavoring in its undertoe. Mild hops seal the deal.

February 16th, 2013 - Voodoo’s Inception shakes hands with the nose by leading with a soft tangerine sweetness, and the pucker of sour cherries. A second smell brings raspberries to the fruit bowl too, and the darker, softer sugar of blueberries - a nice aroma, and very apropos of Spring. The palate is thusly surprisingly heavy, weighed by the body and gravity, and not by carbonation or bubbles. The tangerine, raspberry, blueberry mixture appears again in the flavor, bigger in the aftertaste and long and lingering. The foretaste is dominated by a prominent booziness, but overall this brew is defined by its fruity flavors, more elegant on the nose, but tasty on the tongue, too.

"don’t know about the currant they speak of, but it does kinda sorta taste like a fruity, hoppier than usual triple. a little bit muddled, though i do appreciate the sweet tropical and slightly bitter flavor combinations."

On tap at SF Beer Week Opening Gala. Pour is cloudy golden with a foamy white head. Aroma and flavor are both a bit funky - dark fruit, Belgian yeast, cloves, spice, raisins, and booze. Finish is a bit sweeter than the body.

Cloudy golden color with a thick head and lots of lace. Funky aroma Is almost off-putting, but there’s a hint of fruit in there. Flavor is mellow bitterness, with dried fruit notes. Smooth.

FROM NOTES: August 9, ’12. Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a "Beer Hunter" tulip glass. A: Smells like a tripel - deep sweetness, clove and the standard Belgian spices, though slightly modified, with a hint of allspice. A: Pours a medium-dark orangish gold. Clear at first and then cloudy with yeast at the end of the bottle. Only about a finger of off-white foam formed and then settled to ring. Bits of lacing. T: Starts with a mix of Belgian yeast and banana flavor with some spices mixed in. Through the middle a bit stronger spices come through with some fruity esters and lemon flavor and fades to finish with a slightly muddled mix of yeast and spices. P: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and crisp. O: A plesant, well made Belgian on a mountain of hop bombs.

On tap at Rogue Public House, SF. Hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Good lacing too. Aroma suggests something sweet and fruity and the taste delivers it. A bit too heavy on the banana yeastiness which makes it feel like an amped-up hefeweizen. Tasty though.

~Strong malty caramel/toffee aroma with floral and resinous hops. Smells like a hoppy Werthers Original candy. ~Pours a murky honey color with long lasting creamy off white head. ~Yeasty flavors of clove and other spice dominate over the caramel maltiness and resinous hops. ~medium bodied with medium CO2, lasting bitter hop finish. ~Enjoyable brew. Honestly could do without the strong hop bitterness. Prefer classic style Belgian Tripels, but I still do like this.
