A - Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, citrus, pine, and grassy hops with oak, some sweet caramel and biscuit malts, and a bit of booze. T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit, orange, and citrus hops with some bitterness and some caramel malts. Through the middle, pine and grassy hops come through with more bitterness and lots of oak character with a bit of biscuit malts. The finish is full of oak character with some grapefruit and pine hops with some bitterness, sweet caramel and bready malts, and a hint of booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, bitter, and warming finish. D - Very drinkable. Big oak character, but enough hops and other flavors to keep it balanced.

Bottle (with a 01.09.13 stamp). A hazy golden color with a white head. A pleasant sweet citrus and hoppy aroma. A nice candy sugar and sweet nectar flavor that was not as bitter as I would have expected. I enjoyed it through and through.

Pours a very nice deep golden. Nose is pineapple, ripe peach, resin, caramel. Taste is apple, caramel, some herbs, resin and peach. Very nice aftertaste, balanced well between lingering tropical fruit and bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap. Clear dark golden with a creamy white head. Sweet grainy citrus aroma and taste with nice caramel, vanilla and oak flavors and a dry moderately bitter finish. Good thick chewy palate.

Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear copper with a slight off-white head. Aroma is spicy/floral. Full bodied. Flavor is very floral/spice/citrus - definitely heading towards grapefruit. I’m also getting some butterscotch, so I think there’s diacetyl. Even with all the hop it’s a disturbing thing. There’s some wood astringency - probably oak. It is definitely NW bitter. Barring the oddity flavor this is one heck of a beer.

Shared with strykzone on Facebook chat. Pours amber orange with a small beige head. First thing the greets the nose is diacetyl. Full body. Good creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is floral, citrus, Some bitterness .The diacetyl. is for sure there but does not spoil the beer. Quite decent overall.

Sampled on draft at Tap 25. Yikes… I didn’t realize the ratings were so bad on this one. I think there may be some disparity between the bottles and draft version. Newer brewery… problem with packaging… Hmmm. possible. Anyway I didn’t think this was so bad. Quite good actually. It poured a dark orange with and orangy head. The aroma is spicy, orangy hops. The flavor has pine, orange and mild spicy hops. Good malt backbone with hints of sweet caramel and butterscotch although I didn’t pick it up as diacetyl, but I could be wrong. This is one of those old school IIPA’s with more balancing malt sweetness. Not really what I’m going for these days, but it was ok.

Not understanding the low rating for this brew. A quality Imperial IPA. Big on hops and totally refreshing. A bit of a long finish, but quality.
