2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bruinige kraag. Weinig nasmaak, beetje bitter.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at the DISOB tasting, Den Haag. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is malty, but a little weak. The flavour is medium bitter with roasted malt and coffee. The palate is smooth, but slightly watery and the bitter malty finish is very pleasant.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Medium to bigger sized, vast, tocj and slowly changing creamy beige foamy head on top of a deep dark brown colored beer.
Aromas of manure, nuts, toast, raisin, corn, light hint of sweets, some spices like cloves, hint of coffee, liquorice wood and creamy darker sweet ish tones.
Flavours of toast, barleys, raisin, some toasted leaves and autumnal herbs, light bitter, toast/roast, cream, spices, herbs, light flowers and liquorice wood.
Maybe quite simple and nothing innovating, but it’s balanced and
Bit like a bock beer, but thicker and more balanced.
Aftertaste toast, barleys, nuts, (light) bitter, light spiced.
Low to medium carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, a very good and more than just a medium body and a creamy texture.
This is a lovely brewery. They make some quality and balanced brews. Tasty and crisp. Good.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
At cellar temperature and into a snifter. It looks top notch once settled in the glass. Three inches of dual layered foam; a rocky plume seeps up and out the brim. Head’s held aloft for the length and daubs a thick lace. The body a deep russet chestnut quickly turned opaque from the yeast. Good note of brandy snaps comes through on the nose; toffeeish, nutty with a warming, savoury fruit mince edge and a strange hint of spruce and heather. Sweet burnt sugar and toffee notes dominate the palate. Melanoidins of toasted and roasted grain, and fresh baked Anzac’s. Hints of raisin and prune amongst it all. Spicy, peppery backend shows those Styrian Goldings before a moderately bitter malt and hop finish. Good body, quite firm with low carbonation. Lovely, dark stonefruit finish with more sweet malt giving it a lightly port-like persona. The only discredit being a faint medicinal note in the finish. Quite liked this one. Good solid Belgian ale that shows just enough complexity to keep me interested. Nice! (33cL, BBE 08/15, Liquor Baron’s Hillarys)
