kajser27 (865) - Zagreb, CROATIA - DEC 29, 2015
Deep amber colored, hazy, small+ off whte head. Aroma is sweet caramel, oaky resin, roasted wood, bit spicy, some alcohol. Taste is medium+ sweet caramel, brown sugar, roasted wood, oak, roasted malt, bit spicy yeasty. Medium+ bodied, soft carbonation, viscous. Woody and wood resin but you can tell it’s not just from aging, really interesting brew.

Sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2015. Very hazy orange brown color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish, brown sugar, don’t get any roastyness. Very weird. Meh.

The flavour is moderate sweet with a sweet malt, smooth oaky, creamy toasty Chardonnay like palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a frothy mouthfeel.

Backlog. Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 14.06.15. Clear dark orange. Foamy, dense and persistent off-white head. Moderate arome of oak and red berries. Taste of toffee, red berries, bitterness and oak. Refreshing and easily drinkable, despite its 9,2 % ABV.

Alengrin (3875) - BELGIUM - AUG 25, 2015
Belgian-style barley wine (if this exists) matured on roasted oak, from a limited series. Thanks to Stefan for sharing. Very thick, towering and sticky, cobweb lacing, off-white head over a hazy orange blonde beer. Aroma of toasted bread and toasted wood, orange peel, iron in a ’good’ kind of way, honey, red apple, butter, grass, minerals, redcurrant, pecan nuts, pineapple. Sweetish peachy onset, hints of pineapple and orange, rounded, with a roasted, softly nutty maltiness, ’friendly’ carbo, juicy and biscuity in the middle, sweetish, ending in a mild, leafy, lightly spicy hoppiness, bittering but only softly so, and warming, rhum- or even amaretto-like, non-astringent alcohol. Not the most complex ale, but very well made, flawless, balanced, juicy and appetizing, with an elegant rotundity to it. Very enjoyable.

Holmen1 (4121) - Stavanger, NORWAY - JUN 14, 2015

Bottle bought at De Hopduvel. Pours amber to light brown with a medium white head. Taste is roasted malty, bit fruity and also tartness, vanilla, creamy

Rødbrun farge med hvitt skum. Lukter alkohol, fruktig og noe malt. Medium fylde. Litt krydder og parfyme i smak. Noe tam avslutning. Noe fruktig i ettersmak.

Klar orangebrun med to fingre høyt beige skum. Lukter røde bær, honning og alkohol. Fruktig sødme, rund vanilje, krydderier og lett bitter brent karamell. Stikky.
