COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A fun and nuanced brown, our Four Barrel offers a very earthy, malty nose with light hop overtones. You’ll taste nuttiness, caramel and even coffee that we’ve finished with some light hops for a very nice balance.

Pours brown with a big ivory head. Excellent lacing. Caramel, toffee, pine, and some chocolate aromas. The flavor is sweet at the beginning with caramel, chocolate, coffee flavors. The finish is slightly dry. Medium body with a some creaminess in the mouthfeel. Nice session ale.

12oz bottle of let down. I know most people don’t like browns but I normally do. Poured a muddy chocolate brown with a fizzy light beige head. Aroma has some off putting sourness about it, dough, bad nuts and fruitiness, not really what I like in my browns. Medium bodied with small bubbly tingly carbonation and a sour finish. Flavor of sour chocolate, slight nuttiness, bad coffee beans, some old fruit. This is a drain pour.

Was happy with the overall profile, but as other reviewers have indicated, there was an off sour taste to this beer. I’m thinking clove or banana - but definitely an unexpected sourness.

I really liked some of the other Triton beers, so it really sucked to wind up with this one. I am very curious to try this on tap somewhere since these bottles were waaaaaay off the description. Instead of nuttiness, caramel, and even coffee, it was sour, sour, and even vinegar. I think that if every batch was this bad it would be rated a solid 1/5, so I’ll definitely re-rate this if I get to try some that comes even close to matching the description.

Bottle. Lactic toffee malt aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Tart-lactic light toffee malt flavor. Light body. Not good.

Bottle. Sharp sour malt aroma. Hazy brown with a moderate beige head. Tart sour malt, a bit of roast, and a light bitter flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation. I suspect some infection here.

Pours reddish-brown with a whipped tan head. Scent is nutty, malt. Taste is sharp caramel, tart-sweet.....nuts. Maybe a little off....slightly tangy-sour notes that seem out of place.

Good brown from a great brewery. The level of hopping is good, but the malting isn't forward enough for me(or style). A nice different twist on the style though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This draft brew from a beer festival poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to large sized amber brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a uncarbonated . The mild aroma was malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of brown malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average fizzy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt and nuts aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

Had on draft at Scotty’s Brewhouse. Nondescript brown ale appearance, aroma is nutty with a hint of booze. Malty and smooth early and then finishes with a little bit of hops and some coffee astringency. Pretty complex and definitely good.
