COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship beer, and a true example of the style, the Railsplitter India Pale Ale (IPA) is a fresh golden brew with noticeable citrus and floral aromas balanced on a nice malty backbone with a dry finish.

Backlog rating on 10-27-2012 (Bottle) This beerís appearance is a small head that mostly diminishes, transparent body and no visible carbonation. The aroma is citrus, floral hops and caramel malt. The flavor is citrus hops, lightly bitter and caramel malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this IPA is medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable, not overly hoppy tasting and does have a lingering hoppy aftertaste. This beer is worth trying.

Bottled. Sunshade to coral in color with a terrifically huge gin fizz white head that is ridiculous in both its staying power and rigidity. Hop nose is fruity sweet (orange) with a really nutty, toasted pecan underneath. Somewhat musty flavor, like opening a bag of overripe grapefruit, with some subtle black pepper, a little mint, and lemon rind. Caramel malts pop in the finish.

Aroma is citrus, very light pine and tropical fruit/peel. The flavor is citrus, fruit, hop resin/fruit peel, light toffee and a tart/bitter finish.

The beer itself is mediocre, but I really dig the label art. I think itís the color scheme. Dark golden caramel in color with a slightly citrusy caramel nose, it has a nice barley aroma thatís sweet, but still a little grainy. Thereís some bitter resin on the front of the palate, and a very bitter finish for such light body. Still, some chewy maltiness helps balance things out just a little.

12os bottle into Le Bubba Gump - nose is citrus and malty. Sip is a butter bomb. Mildly bitter. Downhill from first sip. Still canít get over that Japanese ref. I am now rooting for Croatia behind a few other teams.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a transparent orange with eggshell head. Smells solid; juicy hops with a well-balanced pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
