COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American brewers have developed many new beer styles in the past twenty years, but none is more popular than the American Pale Ale. Ours has a firm malty foundation with plenty of hop flavor and aroma on tap.

taster in New Hope. Pours a clear golden/light amber with a slowly dissipating off white head. Aroma is mainly citrus hops, same with taste with a full body. Smooth bitter finish.

With a name like Chico Ale, you know this one is paying tribute to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and its a nice one at that. I sampled this one at the New Hope, PA location, and was very pleased. Pours to a deep golden, to light amber color, with a thick and creamy white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose is very inviting on this beer, with good citrus and lemon hop aroma. The palate is firm with good pale and sweet malt flavor, along with a nice touch of estery fruit. This beer finishes with more good pale malt up front, then ends with a mild but pleasing citrus/lemon hop bitterness. Very well done example of American Pale Ale, and a nice tribute to the bench mark example, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. A good pint after pinter at the bar, and a very food friendly beer as well.

Strong fruity esters are berry like and play well with the citrus hops in the aroma. Clear golden body is topped by a low but lasting, bright, white head that laces nicely. Moderately bitter up front with a light grainy malt note, some berrylike esters and leafy, herbal character. Light body with lively, crisp carbonation. Sampled at GABF 2005.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2006 Light amber pour with a nice white head. The head stayed up pretty well. Smell had citrus, graitfruit and casade. A little weak in the aroma. Taste had a good graitfruit, citrus and caramel trio. Mouthfeel had mainly graitfruit but was not overly carbonated. Quite enjoyable and similar to Sierra Nevada.

With a name like "Chico Ale" I knew it was a West Coast style APA. Strong cascade aroma, dark golden brown appearance. Triumph isn’t re-inventing the APA here, but serving up a tasty version of it.

On tap in Princeton. Nice hoppy nose, slightly floral. Head is about 2 fingers on first pour (second pint had no head, I blame the glassware) If you are familiar with Triumph, it reminds me of a hoppier version of the Bengal IPA. Very drinkable, session beer.

09.10.04 Tap @ Princeton. I wasn’t hoping for much from this beer, just another brewpub APA, I figured. Golden-amber color with little head. C-hop aromas, orange, light pine. Flavors are decidedly mixed between orange and some pine, not very well integrated but present. Big, full mouthfeel. Slightly dry finish, but not as much as expected. Very tasty and quaffable overall. Certainly has the typical Triumph stamp yet made me nostalgic for the great APAs of the PNW.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2004 Hey chico. Got a growler of this from the Princeton store for my b-day. Like my good friend Jine, I was wary (mostly because of the name), but I was pleasantly surprised. A fine ale overall...for me to poop on. Just kidding, but I had to do it. ha. Pleasant hoppy aroma light amber color. Very smooth and easy to drink. Aftertaste is a little harsher than desired, but its still a fine beer.
