A hybrid style created by crossing our coffee stout with milk stout. Adding unfermentable milk sugar (lactose) in the kettle results in a texture that is rich, chewy and, quite literally, creamy.

Texture is creamy, smooth, thick. Pretty much what you’d expect from the name. The flavour is pretty much like a dark stout, though. Bit of a beer face.

Draft, vintage rating. Pours a black body with a tan head. Straight up coffee and coffee grinds. Very dark roasted, bitter burnt coffee and a bitter finish. Good.

One of my most favorite beers. Very dark and full, but the coffee and cream flavors are absolutely fantastic. A must have when on tap at Triumph!

From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 11/10/2007 Coffee roast aroma. Small beige head. Black slightly rich and smooth on the palate with a bitter lasting full coffee finish.

Dark brown frothy pour with thick tan head and lace. Aroma of hard coffee, and roasted malt. Semi chocoffee flavor dominated by coffee. A nice malt bitter finish. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. A tad thin kept it from scoring a tad higher. A very nice beer.

pint at brewpub, Ok to good aroma, sweet, coffee, milk, sugar. Dark orangy brown color, good head & lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Lite body, thin mouthfeel, mild bitter finish, Easy to drink, had moments when I thought it would go over the top, but never quite did. Looked great, aroma was reall good too.

On tap at Triumph in Philly. Aroma is mocha and coffee, very smooth smelling and sweet. Palate is creamy from the nitro carbonation, though not “full” by any means. Flavor was a continuation of the aroma, though a bit more subdued: there was dark chocolate and coffee upfront, leading into a roasted-though-sweet finish. Not a whole lot going on here, but a satisfying drink.

Tap at the Princeton brewpub. An excellent beer for under 5% ABV. Aroma of coffee, roast, and chocolate. Flavor is sweet mocha with cream and also some roasted malt. Smooth and creamy on the palate. The highlight of the evening there.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2009 Draft at the Olde City location. Pours near black with a thin beige head. The aroma has coffee and roasted malts, with a dark chocolate creaminess. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. The flavor has roasted coffee and a nice creamy sweetness. Very good.

On tap at the brewpub, Philthy. Very nice pour, in a tall glass like it’s a milkshake. Thick and creamy pour, with an awesomely frothy head. Aroma could be sharper but still quite nice, coffee and choc. The mouthfeel is a delight, and the beer has a deep lactic quality to it that’s quite pleasing. I wanted more depth and complexity, but it’s certainly a winner as a more-than-sessionable stout.
