dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 29, 2004 Draft at the Leigh Valley Brewfest in Easton, Pa. From the New Hope, Pa location. Not my favorite style but since it won a metal at the GABF had to give it a try. Very good for the stye. Still not my style. Had a very big German hop bite. SETANTA (581), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 26, 2004 An overly hopped pilsner... not my favorite style to begin with... a little rough going down, slightly grassy, perhaps a little old. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 4, 2004 GABF 2004. Triumph New Hope. Very clear deep yellow body and foamy white head. Looks filtered but that may just be from settling. Has a profile of fresh worty, pilsner malts with nutty, buttery notes and a grassy hop quality. Dry and crisp without much yeast character, but still a solid beer.
pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 29, 2004 On draft at in New Hope. Nice head, good lacing, modest hop aroma. A clear brew (not crystal clear, but also no hefeweizen look). Clean pilsener taste, with a bit of an edge. beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA Sep 25, 2004 Soft yet biting, an okay, grainy taste. Unlike Tsarman, I don’t think I’m completely sold on this marginal mix of styles, as I perceive it. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Sep 25, 2004 Cloudy marigold color. A good hazy color. Similar to lagers, but this did have a little bit more to enjoy. A good job on a style I didn’t think I would enjoy. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 24, 2004 Updated: Oct 13, 2006On tap in New Hope. Poured a light hazy golden color with a small white head. Aromas and tastes of citrus, light grass and grain. Thinner body. 5 3 5 4 12.
Rerate. Had this again and raised the numbers a little. Still had that malty graininess, but I enjoyed it a little more the 2nd time around. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Sep 18, 2004 Tap at New Hope. Golden and cloudy, white head. Aroma of sulfur and vinegar, but in a pleasant sort of way. Flavor is malty and hoppy, with a slight sulfur flavor. The hopslinger in the finish. Very drinkable.
