Similar to Newcastle Brown Ale. A handpulled ale served at just under room temperature. Very flavorful.

This was from a hand pump in Philly. The aroma was malty sweet with a lot of bread and some caramel. The beer is a dark amber with a nice off white head. The flavor is malty sweet with caramel, bread, just a hint of hops. The finish is nice with a long lasting after taste. Very very smooth.

On cask at Triumph during RBSG. Pours a hazed amber brown with a medium to large white head. Big nutty and toasty malt on the nose. A touch thin, though that could be due to the cask, smooth and toasty. Sweet, soft bitterness and a touch empty. Toast and nutty malt on the finish.

This poured a medium clear brown color with an off white head. Aroma was of very light nuts, some toasted malts and light sweet brown sugar. Flavor was lightly acidic, low sweetness, nice toasted/roasted notes and some caramel as well. Decent offering for the style.

Cask at the brewpub. Pours a hazy iced tea with medium frothy beige head. Aroma is mild with a touch of roasted malt. Mild flavor of lightly roasted malt and caramel. Watery with a touch of roasted malt and chocolate. A bit boring. Not much going on here.

Tap at Triumph in Philly for RBSG 2011. The pour is a reddish amber with lots of big yellow lace. Nose is mildly estery with spice and caramel. Comes across as brown sugar and sweet in the aroma. Taste is very clean with small soapiness. Ends fairly tart with small sour cherry. Loads of character for a style plagued by the most boring beers in the world. Nice one.

Not a bad brown ale, but itís nothing really to write home about. The body was creamy and smooth, but you can credit that to the fact that this beer was driven on a handpump. I got some brown sugar, earthy maltiness and light hop in the flavor. But everything else in this beer was rather bland and a bit unintersting.

Draft. Pours a brune body with a yellow off white head. Nutty malty body caramel and some dark fruit esters. Hint of wood and a thin sessionable brown ale. Good stuff.
