Nitro tap at Princeton. This is incredibly solid. Great head sticks around forever. Deep, roasty caramel aroma with a touch of smoke. Wide, lovely body takes on a buttery cookie and dark chocolate flavor with vanilla finish. So solid.

Nitro pour at the Princeton location. Dark black beer with a thick creamy light tan head. Aroma is chocolatey and coffeeish with a nice sweetness and a soft backnote of smokiness. Good integration of sweet malts and earthy roastiness. Nice creamy palate with a rich dark chocolate and a long lingering roastiness. This is a pretty solid stout.

Pours like guinness and tastes like guinness. If guinness had a twin brother this is him. Had it on tap at the brewery and was not what I was expecting. Boring, plain, and thin. All the qualities I don’t look for in a stout. If I wanted guinness I would have went to the bar down the street. Where’s the oatmeal?

sample at the Philly location on 1/19/08. slightly disappointed in this one... a bit to light and weak. I would like more body out of this.... a little watery. Otherwise, not bad - average stout. Get the Scotch Ale instead.

On tap at Philly. Dark brown pour with a heavier nitro produced head. Aroma is sweet and chocolatey with some light coffee and sugar detectable. Flavor is a sweet milk chocolate and light roasty mix that brings some pleasant sugary tastes. Nitro makes the mouthfeel more enjoyable, but less so than it might otherwise be. good stout, but not quite as good as their other stout offerings.

Classic stout through and through, smooth and hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Creamy and somewhat malty, really well made and easy drinking.

On tap at the Philly location. I had one of the first pints from this years batch. Typical stout color. Nice smooth aroma of malt with a bit of coffee. Nice flavor with a very nice dry finish. Very sooth and creamy.

Draft. My first beer at the Center City Philly location. Opaque, with a creamy brown head that lasted until the last sip. Big malt aroma with a bit of chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel. Malty flavor, with notes of coffee and chocolate. Very nice first impression of the brewpub, and good enough to order a second pint later in the night.

Draft at New Hope. Smooth, creamy but weak on the flavor. When I drink a stout that pours as dark and looks as syrupy as this, I want a little more out of it. Subtle flavors are a good thing, but I felt this lacked the malt it deserved.
