Growler; a week old. Garnet brown pour, lightly transparent with gold and rusty orange highlights; web-like lacing and a resilient cap of white. Raw, smoky aroma of honey ham baked in caramlized sugar, and stone ground brown mustard; hints of rye, and sauerkraut. Pungent and forceful smoke, made delicate with a soft, understated sweetness. Taste brings a slightly tart caramel and apple sweetness, built with a deep lagered fruitiness and the thoroughgoing smoke permeation. Lots of pleasant, peaty, earthy Schlenkerla tones, with beats of banana, Munich, toffee, and hazelnut; for the most part, citrusy beechwood smoke tends to dominate with a wet cloud of damp, bitter earth, accented with cardamom and anise seed. Palate is medium bodied, sweet and lightly sticky; zesty orange and lemon peels give a lively touch of hoppiness to complement the ample smoke. Finishes softly with a laid back remnant of raw bacon, floral honey and pine cone sap. Well done. Thanks Jason!

Hazy darker amber color with an off-white pillowy head. Aroma is big and powerful - lots of smoky big maltiness with some spicyness and tortilla chips. Taste has a big smoky-malt flavor with some sweetness thrown in. Smoke is not of the excessive campfire variety, but powerful and consistent. Some subtle hops and tortilla chips thrown in at the end. Nice feel with a lasting finish. I’m liking this one - one of Triumph’s best brews.

Tap at princeton. Poured gold with white head. Aroma of meat. Strong meaty/smoked flavor from start to finish. Good smoke.
