dirtymike (2019), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 6, 2003 GABF '03-My most recommended beer to others at the festival. This things had so much charcater it was amazing.Ruby-brown in color with a great bready/rye aroma and flavor.I wanted to toss some turkey and mustard in my glass and drink it down. It's like drinking a loaf of dark rye/pumpernickel bread..amazing! MikeRa (12), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 16, 2008 A very nice tasting beer. It has a aroma and flavor of a rustic black rye bread. Sampled it at the Philadelphia location on 2/21/2008 egajdzis (2970), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 8, 2006 Poured a hazy brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malts, caramel, tons of caraway, some mint, and nuts as well. Taste of more caramel and caraway, with some citrus, and a dry, doughy finish. Chewy mouthfeel. Thanks to Paul for the sample! Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 7, 2003 Updated: Sep 10, 2006GABF 2003: The most interesting beer that I had at the festival. Black/ruby color with a large light brown head. Sweet medicinal bready aroma (I couldn’t smell this beer enough) Full bodied, ends with a touch of sweetness. Crisp dry ending. scraff (1662), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 20, 2006 On tap at Princeton - Turbid rusty brown, thick creamy tan head. A rich and complex nose of fresh warm rye bread and pumpernickel that layers over wafts of toffee, maple nut, and touches of smoke. Deep rye bread flavor throughout that gains additional soft chocolate, caramel and citrus tones upon warming. 6.7% ABV for those wondering. Medium to full bodied, medium carbonation, dark bready finish. Can’t say I have ever had anything this unique. Just awesome. Would be perfect with corned beef sandwhich....
