In Belgium, Saison refers to the Season, and brewers there will create brews to match a given season. Triumph Saison is designed as a light, effervescent beer with a hint of fruit and coriander. Similar to a Belgian Wit or "white" beer, our Saison is a smooth and refreshing summer concoction.

A very light orange pour. A sweet flavor similar to a tea. This hand pumped beer is warmer than your average beer and has a very sweet flavor lacking any strong and powerful flavors.

Draft at the Princeton location during the fireworks run. Poured a slightly cloudy burnt orange body with a foamy off white head that quickly faded. Aroma is spicy, menthol, toast, grains, yeast, citrus rind. Medium body with average carbonation and a lingering aftertaste. Flavor is similar to the aroma with lots of spicy esters up front, yeast and grains, bubble gum and rotting citrus fruit. Good stuff, easily the best beer on tap that day.

On cask in New Hope - pours a clear orange with a thick head that lasts. Smells earthy, floral, breads. Taste is sweet and bitter, mildly tart/sour - very mild for a saison, high drinkability though.

Light hazy gold. Aroma is a little musty, a little earthy hop, spice, an light sweet malt. Flavor is a little musty also, farmy, herbal, zest, a bit of fruit. Real nice brew. Finishes with a mild but noticeable bite.

In short: A semi-barnyard and semi-dry fruity Saison. Slighlty below average for the style
How: Growler shared during the RBSG 2011 bus-trip
The look: Cloudy golden body topped by a small off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is moderately barnyard with also standard belgian blonde ale yeast fruity esters. Taste is fresh cereals, some hay, cobweb, flowery spiciness, some tropical fruits, dough. Creamy mouthfeel. Not really dry, not really sweet, just very plain cereals. I love Saisons and tend to overrate them but this one didn’t excite me. It was just ok as a Saison. But although this particular beer wasn’t all that good, the RBSG bus trip itself was quite extreme and we drank a ton of beer. But let me assure you that there was nothing inappropriate about my behavior during that bus trip. It is my age that was very inappropriate for my behavior.
