The malty beer pours dark brown. I think this delivered nicely but that might just be because I enjoy Schwarzbier. Tastes like a lager but a little heavier and maltier. Very earthy beer with a nice smooth slightly hopped finish.

Apr 10, 2008 @Philly-on tap-pours a retaining tan head with some lacing. Color is mahogany. Aroma is dark malt-peat, slight sweetness, some Irish Red/Brown Ale metallic, musty. Taste is dark malt-peat/some caramel/chocolate, secondary dry/slightly earthy bitter hops. OK effervescence, mush of it on the tip of the tongue then soft carbonation.

Mar 26, 2008 Another tasty brew from the Philly location. Nice dark color with a small head. Malt sweetness and roast malt finish.

Feb 25, 2008 On draft at the Chestnut Street location. Pours a dark amber with a medium beige head. Aroma of malt and faint smoked meat. Taste of malt and beef jerky. Average.
