Tröegs Bavarian Lager is an authentic German style lager, brewed with Munich malts, Hallertau Hops and fermented at cool temperatures followed by a full month of aging, or "lagering", to impart a range of complex maltiness and subtle aromas only found in traditional German lagers.

Had this just a few weeks after visiting Munich, and they do quite a job on it. Full, sweet, and bready with some bitterness in the back. Excellent.

yummy. not troegs best but still a good beer and an even better full tasting lager. Tried it out of a troegs variety pack.

Brown tan pour with beige head. Spicy malty flavor that I don’t really care for. It’s like they missed on a belgium style and called it a lager. The body is medium with a crisp carbonation finish. Maybe this just isn’t my style.

A golden orange color, starts somewhat sweet and bready, then some hops kick in. Finishes on the sweet side.

Very faint aroma. Golden body, little white head. Flavor is light maltiness and a bit of hop spice, but overall a bit thin.

Poured a copper color with a small off white head that quickly diminished leaving no lacing on the glass. Sweet caramel malt, and dry, straw, toasted aroma. Initial malty sweetness, with a light, lingering, hop bitterness. Rather dry finish.

Bottle. From Sampler pack. Head pours mall and light brown with a nose of light malt and a little toasted. Also scents of dough, smoke, and tobacco. Medium body with a mineral taste and a lively carbonation that finishes with a light astringency. Taste is nice with a sweetness and bitterness that is well balanced. First taste is great with a malt sweetness that finishes long and slightly bitter. Pretty damn good.

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2004 Bottled on 8-31-04(from a sampler 12pk) Nice bready, malty aroma with some sweet overtones caramel, banana, and some slightly spicy hops.Very nice balanced flavor. The mouth is a nice medium silk, with a nice spritzy bite.I think they ought to put this out in 6 er’s,but what are ya gonna do? Almost the right amount of everything(a tad too sweet). This is more a less an Oktoberfest IMHO.

Pours a cloudy crimson amber with a quickly dissapating head. Aroma is of rich malt and some hops. Taste is sweet and malty with plenty of caramel, dark fruit and candy apples. Has an apple cider feel to it. Slightly sour finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Sweetness becomes cloying towards the end. Overall, not bad.

Tap version -- Deep brownish amber with ample off-white head this brew was ultra malty with a strong caramel presence. Complex maltiness throughout with well balanced hop character. Smooth mouthfeel with malty, but not overly sweet finish. Knocked the Troegenator Double Bock out of my favorite slot for this brewery. Excellent!
