Such a good barley wine. Pours a dark red/brown color with a tan head. Aroma is brown sugar, caramel, honey, and toffee. Taste is a sweet brown sugar, caramel, hints of cocoa, and some bitterness bite in the end but mellow. Mouth feel is a tad light but other than that this is fantastic.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2013 Bomber from trade with JStax. Bottled April 2012. Pours a cloudy orange-brown color with a nice big frothy that fades normally and leaves nice webbing. Smells delicious. Candied sugar, caramel, chocolate, toffee, nuts, and some spicy/floral/citrus hops too. Taste is actually more bitter than sweet which is a little surprising. Still a very nice burnt sugar, caramel, chocolate flavor. Spicy and floral hops show up in the fairly bitter finish. A bit dry. Medium to thick body, somewhat chewy mouthfeel. Very nice barley wine. The hops have held up very well for being over a year old.

Nice rich barleywine that isnt too sweet. Lots of leathery dark fruits and a nice caramel toastyness. Not much hops or bitterness but you arent left with tongue scraping sweetness.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, soapy ring of carbonation and an aroma of heavy caramel and hops. Flavor is good & malty caramel, slightly nutty, and a good meld of toffee, hops and a little alcohol all the way through to the finish. Solid.

Finally got some on draft (Alewife, Baltimore) since they didn’t bottle this year. Served in a goblet, dark-brownish amber color with off-white head. Aroma of heavy malt sweetness, candy, dark fruit, brown sugar and alcohol. Taste is intense version of the aroma, very punch you in the face malt bomb (good thing). Heavy body, low carbonation, thick, rich, complex, syrupy, smooth with sweet boozy finish. Very good barley wine, hope they bottle it next year.

Rustic hazy reddish with nice off-white dense head. Poured thick. Meaty malt nose. Spicy hop flavor along with big malt profile. Reminds me of the classic English barley wine only slightly amped up. Would welcome a 2-3 year old brew to see how it matures.
