4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cloudy dark amber with ample foam, got to be unfiltered. Aroma of caramel, molasses, raisin, and some citrus. Starts with sweet toasted grains and toffee and then follows quickly with moderately bitter hop finish. A little bit of booziness, but really drinkable for a barleywine. Great rounded taste and another excellent beer from Troegs!

Bottle shared by my good bud Brewkkake, you rock brotha! Big aroma of malts, caramel, slight hops and slightly boozy. Easy to drink given the 9.3%ABV.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2013 This is delicious. Caramel cocoa malty hop nectar. Not a classic barleywine

From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a murky brown with an off white head. Aroma of caramel. Flavors of spruce needles, caramel and candy sugar. Intense bitter finish.

Bottle. Smells like a barleywine with just a hint of dark chocolate. The flavors walk more of a fine line between an aged IIPA and cocoa nibs, all melded over a somewhat too creamy mouthfeel. It's an awesomely unique mix of a chocolate stout and a hoppy barleywine.

Had this over the summer, bonus from Jwiss22. Very sweet for a barley wine. The bottle deScription was the best - hops dipped in candied sugar. Good stuff, barley wine is not my top style but I enjoyed.

Bottle at home. Thanks Ramy! Pours deep amber with a creamy beige head. The aroma is loaded with biscuits, toasted malt, crackers and a good bite of lingering hops. The flavour has similar notes with the toasted malts in front and the fruity and bittering hops in the back. Great brew indeed!

Solid american style barley wine here. Medium hops, big caramel malts, winter beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark reddish brown with medium khaki head. The aroma is sweet malt, caramel, spicy, floral, and slightly fruity. The taste is really well balanced between malt and hops with a really nice firm hop bitterness. This is a quite enjoyable barley wine.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a musty pastel-crimson, with a couple fingers of puffy, lacy, off-white head. Smells of sugary malts and piny hops, with notes of chocolate, caramel, soy, and even some pipe-tobacco. Taste starts with the sugary malts, with hints of birch, then segues into juniper hops before easing back into sweet chocolate and caramel. The finish is slightly bitter and hoppy. This beer feels more carbonated than it appears, and has a lingering, sappy mouthfeel. A very... dynamic beer.
