3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. I finally got back to my beer after a few days of gastritis (caused, no doubt, by the pitcher of swill from my previous rating). And found this beer, from my trade with DocLock, to be a nice mellow transition back to real beers.
Pours a big country cream head over a pretty amber body; the head turns rocky as it starts to fade. The hops are clearly of an American IPA mode, piney more than citrusey. The bitterness is pleasing more than bitter for its own sake, and matches up well with a smooth caramel malt. Kudos.

Cask @ Andy’s. Poured clear gold with a fluffy head from the hand pump. How is this not an IPA? Nice floral aroma with caramel and malt. Taste has an initial hop bite which is almost completely smothered in malty goodness. Not terribly sweet but a really well made beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The color is a light red stained oak. The head is big and lovely.
Solid caramel notes in the aroma behind a slightly floral and spicy hop mix.
This is delicious. Rich caramel covered fruits along with a spicy fresh floral hop profile. The hops are dazzling.
Moderate carbonation but an explosive head. Fantastic drinkability. I’d like some more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Aroma is all hops with grapefruit and pine. Pours a transparent amber with a small head that is quickly gone. Not much lacing. Flavor is an excellent balance between malt and hops. Extremely quick initial light sweetness quickly overtaken by moderate hops. Not much aftertaste. Great balance. Great beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 25, 2004 Clear amber with white head.Light fruity hop nose. Not a strong hop flavor.I get a little caramel note over the fruit that I thought I would get.Rather thin with little finish. But it tastes good.I drank the last of this after letting it sit. What a difference. The hops came out much more and I found this to be enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
dark orange with an inch thick white head. Nose is hoppy, but not as citrusy as I expected coming through the "hopback" system! Perfumy and soft, somewhat grassy, although some pine and orange rind start to come through once it warms. Body is rich and citric flavors bounce off the sides of my mouth...this tastes like grapefruit juice at first...where was the warning in the nose? Malts are soft, pale, sweet, light. Even the hops at the finish are bitter on the back sides of the tongue but never taking dominance like I expect. This is a fun beer. Tangy and fruity aftertaste like juicy fruit gum!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to my pal up in Philly, dberger624, for sending me this Toregs brew!
Pours a handsome amber / copper colored body with a bountiful tan colored head, there are sheets of lacing all over the place!
The aroma and flavor are thick with Cyprus and Pine tree mulch. Exceptionally spicy with that huge hoppy backbone, some black pepper; there are also terrific maltyness here, Great notes of caramel. The palate is very nice and oily… I really am enjoying this brew! I would think it would be more widely talked about than it is?
