COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

Had this on cask recently. It was very good. Nice and hoppy with a balanced malt character. Orangy color. Enjoyable to drink. I liked it.

Copper, off-white head with good lacing (as far as I could tell in the plastic cups at the Capital City Brewing Festival). Light hop aroma with balanced malt character. Moderate Bitterness from the front to back. A little thin bodied.

Flowery aroma with pale golden body and slight bubbly head. A bit weak on the hops, given the name of the beer. This is like a less potent, less flavorful verson of their pale ale.

Light butterscotch color with a few hints of cranberry. Lots of bubbles on sides and bottom of glass, though grayish, beige head is not very large. Smells of an APA (think ¾ strength Sierra Nevada smell). Taste is grapefruit and vegetable hops: sweet, tart, spicy all at once. Aftertaste is bitter and slightly roasted. This is an above average APA with a wonderful assortment of flavors, each fully developed and tasty in their own right. I’m really starting to like this brewery and lucky for me I have 2 more of their brands to try in my fridge. Sampled from a 12 oz bottle purchased at Total Wine and Beverage in McLean, VA.

flowery hops aroma with a hoppy fruity flavor. It had a good feel to it.

Sure looks like an amber, but this tastes more like a pale ale. Whatever it is, it is a great drink. Just enough caramel in the malt to keep this ale balanced. Very refreshing both in nose and taste.

Tasted in Toronto, purchased from Cairo in DC. Deep amber colour, white light head. Intense hoppy scent, very very bitter with a slight floral and spicy nose. Flavour is more balanced, with a light spicy taste and bitter finish.

Sparkling orange/amber color. Quickly diminishing off-white head. The aroma is dominated by a fruity hoppiness and subtle caramel maltiness. Hops really hit you on the swallow. Malt shines in the mid-taste. Med bodied and very lively on the tongue and in the mouth. The only think holding this one back from the next level is the carbonation, head vanishes very quickly and does not look quite perfect somwhow.

Pours with a clear amber body topped by a medium thick off-white head with good lacing. Sweet and grapefruity hop aroma with berry undertones and a very slight maltiness. Slightly sweet but mostly bitter hoppy flavor with a touch of grapefruit and a bitter hoppy finish. Medium bodied and dry.
