Not nearly as floral as it smells. A little too sweet. I prefer a dryer IPA.

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not one of my favourite styles, but as this is the #1 (currently), hopefully i'll enjoy it! The beer is a great clear amber colour with a dense frothy white head. The smell is pretty hoppy (pretty high a.a. too) and a tad malty. The taste is a bit watery, followed by a bit of nuttyness then finished with hop bitterness. Overall a pretty good beer and one of the better ones you can find in this style. I bought the twelve ounce bottle at Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
An excellent crisp and refreshing beer - a good choice for the summertime. This appears clear amber with a nice frothy white head. Has a full floral, spicy hop aroma. The first taste starts as a blend of hops and a little caramel maltiness. Then it flows into a dry, spicy, hoppy aftertaste.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is a tasty beer. I had the fortune to try a fresh one - bottled 6.13.03. Very nice looking amber with fluffy head and decent hop nose. RICH flavor with a good dose of hops. Crisp finish and enjoyable.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2003 Bottled 11/30/03.Great hoppy(fresh Tasting beer.Looks good with a Phat head/some decent lace. The taste is nice hops(libery, nugget) w/great malt backup(munich, pilsner)Basically their pale with the complementing munich malt)Not a hop monster or anything.Nice somewhat dry finish with a decent bite at times.Best amber ever(they brought the HOPback to the amber ale stlye?(tastes like a very solid amber lookin' pale ale)(NOTE: If you get an "old 6'er of this it tastes like another crappy amber 2.9 on those bottles.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Fruity aroma. Good hoppy bite for an amber ale. Finish was a little more malty. Nice bronze appearance. Clean aftertaste.

Excellent hoppy beer. Pleasant hops aroma, clear copper color, tastes clean and refreshing. I would have guessed it an IPA.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2006 RERATE 20060819 - Poured from bottle. Hop aroma almost burns the nostrails. But flavor is more refined. Hop flavor is full and delicious, along with vanilla and spice notes. Surprising and impressive creamy mouthfeel. Nice finish. Very rewarding brew.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Almost more of an APA than an amber, big hoppy profile but very well balanced with a good amount of malt in the body as well, bubbly tanish-off white head, lots of hops in the aroma, nice bitey & spicey aftertaste, very crisp, excellent beer
