nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 10, 2009 Another good, well-balanced beer from my hometown boys in the HBG. Amber color, off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and floral hops. Flavor is caramel malts and fresh-tasting east coast hops, not quite as hoppy as an IPA but more than a typical amber ale. Medium palate and carbonation. Good stuff. noncaloric (602), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 7, 2009 Thanks Brigadier. Pours a clear, nearly red amber with a finger of beige head, which dissipates to a ring and some lace. Aroma is citric hops and sweet malts. The flavor begins much the same, oranges, brown sugar, and then becomes incredibly bready. This is as close as you get to fresh baked bread in a glass. The aroma elements emerge again for a very floral finish. Only minor off element that the grain is a bit too husky for my taste. Medium bodied, lightly prickly on the palate. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 3, 2009 nice amber color, nose is citrus but also a little malts in the background. flavor is both, a little to much on the bittering hop, very dry finish. thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jan 30, 2009 Updated: Feb 12, 2009Pours amber/copper into a shaker. Off-white head pancakes and recedes in larger surface bubbles. Sweet citrus and resin aromas. Crisp and well balanced with caramel upfront and a lasting dry grapefruit and resin finish. Abeersnob (16), Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA Jan 27, 2009 Poured and amber color slightly reddish great flavour, also great hop balance.caramel malts with a smooth finish good beer DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 25, 2009 (11/10/08) Bottle at friends’ house in Philadelphia (thanks David T). Clear deep reddish amber color with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of piney hops, resin and caramelly malt. Sweet caramelly malt at first with some toasted notes and then a bitter finish with hops and pine needles. Medium-bodied. Pretty tasty. fdr137 (32), , New York, USA Jan 24, 2009 12 oz bottle. Poured a nice golden amber, with no haze. An offwhite creamy head that lasted a fair while with good cling. Aroma is mostly citrusy hops. Flavor is a pretty balanced palate, a bit of malty up front with a nice hop kick, maybe some sweeter notes in the aftertaste. The hops are a little bitter but smooth out after a little while. thenick (742), North Bellmore, New York, USA Jan 24, 2009 Tap. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma is heavy hops with slightly-detectable grain (I’m wondering, based on the aroma, if this was dry-hopped). Taste is heavy floral hop and malt balanced out very well. This is a great beer, and I’ll be trying much more from this brewery.
