Commercial Description:
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark amber colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dark fruit, caramel, toffee and slightly rubbery hops. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, hints of chocolate and spicy but modest bitterness in the finish. Nice, but lacking something extra.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Clear amber with lasting head. Citrus aroma. Mild carmael with bracing and dry bitter finish. Medium body and carbo. Sure it’s tasty, but is it an amber ale or just a copper colored IPA. You can’t just bury everything in fresh hops. I sometimes think you could fresha nd dry hop a Belgian white and it would score a 91 here. This is a good beer, but I prefer and amber to be very caramel and toasty and malty and biscuity, not an IPA with caramel coloring.

Very happy with this one. This is my idea of a session beer. Everything about this beer is simply good. Reminds me of a souped up Yuengling with better color, taste, everything, the works. Hopheads should enjoy this one, overall better brew than 60 Minute IPA

Pours a dark amber with a big tan head. Lot’s of hops and a little malt in the aroma. Nice hop flavor but not overpowering. A very drinkable beer.

Copper colored with a beige head that retains pretty well and leaves decent lacing behind. Smell is full of resinous hops; pineapple, pine, and has some nice malt behind it too, very tropical. Bitter hops greet the tongue, a bit grassy, but leads into some resinous pine and caramel. Medium carbonation and body. I’d like a little more hops in the taste to accompany the aroma, but it’s still a good beer.

Dark amber/copper with a light head. Very light flowery hop aroma (note: this was tasted with cloged sinuses, maybe not totally appreciated, worth a second try.) Mouthfeel is a little fizzy and carbonated. Flavor is very crisp, light citrus and flowery hops. The grassy biterness is not great, and it lingers and overpowers the weak flavor. Not my favorite, but worth trying again with clear sinuses.

355 ml bottle. Red/brown body with a descent beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel and fruity hops. Well-balanced, sweet malt, some caramel and a sharp clean hop flavor. Straight forward well made amber.
