Smell is full of resinous hops; pineapple, pine, and has some nice malt behind it too, very tropical. Bitter hops greet the tongue, a bit grassy, but leads into some resinous pine and caramel. Medium carbonation and body. I’d like a little more hops in the taste to accompany the aroma, but it’s still a good beer. mesperon (134), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Dark amber/copper with a light head. Very light flowery hop aroma (note: this was tasted with cloged sinuses, maybe not totally appreciated, worth a second try.) Mouthfeel is a little fizzy and carbonated. Flavor is very crisp, light citrus and flowery hops. The grassy biterness is not great, and it lingers and overpowers the weak flavor. Not my favorite, but worth trying again with clear sinuses. djaquay (9), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Wonderful aroma, sweet and smooth, slight bitter finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Poured from a bottle dated 06.19.08 at about 40 degrees. Half an inch of of off-white head that dissipated a little too quickly. A very nice dark amber-red color. A sweet and subtle aroma -- a little too subtle for my taste. It had a perfect amount of hoppiness and a very smooth, almost syrupy body. Pumpkin and toffee notes and a pleasantly dry finish. Precisely what keeps me from disparaging this beer also keeps me from praising it; it’s too subtle in many ways, almost intentionally restrained, though that may be the result of it being below optimal temperature. All in all, though, a picture-perfect example of a quality amber ale. ucusty (1880), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Had this beer both on tap and in the bottle. Enjoyed it throughly each way. Appeared a nice clear brown. A grassy hop smell with caramel malt. The taste is the same as the aroma. The hops are not as strong as the name would suggest, but still a very good session beer.
