Commercial Description:
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

On tap at Brickwall in Asbury. Pour is a nice deep amber with a small light head. Aroma of citrus, hops and some spice. Flavor is similiar. Nice hop bit with citrus and a malty sweetness near the end. Like this one. Been wanting to try it then ran into it at Brickwall. Liked it alot.

All right - another 4 pointer! This one is a hoppy amber from Pennsylvania, in a 12 ounce bottle. The label has a close-up drawing of some hops on it - shows what this brewer is aiming for. There is a pleasantly sharp aroma, with hops and floral notes. The brew is a dark amber color, with a very nice flavor. It is fresh and robust, with caramel malty sweetness blended nicely with piney hops. Well-balanced, full-flavored, delicious!

1-4-08 bottle shared with fly and lb4lb thanks to kmweaver!
Thick amber color with nice white head and lacing. Nice subtle hoppy smells. Decent mouthfeel. A hint thin but not bad at all - I would have it again. Bitter and hoppy taste that is quite enjoyable in this amber.

Nice hop aroma and a deep burnt red look to this beer. Its not to malty, but this allows a massive hop presence to show itself. Troegs does it again with this one. This finishes with a touch of sweetness and very little hop bitterness.

On draft at beer club. Pours a deep amber with a bit of a reddish hue. Has a foamy 1-finger head. Has a floral hop nose with a small hint of citrus and some pine. For some reason, this beer makes me think of hiking (possibly because it is packaged with the Rugged Trail a lot) but it has a really great piney hops that goes very well with that image. There is a little bit of an artificial pineapple taste as well. A little bit of a malt character, but it is completely dominated by the hops. Has a good thick body with a good bitter caramel finish.

I really like and appreciate Troeg’s. Perhaps I would lose this facination in a blind tasting, perhaps not. Would like to think that perhaps I would see all that I perceive to be true no matter what. At least I know for sure they make some awesome beers and that I liked tghis one rather well as I drank from it and saw what would quite easily be a session beer, had I that pleasure. I thank Deniz & Etin for the pleasure of sharing

bottle courtesy of kmweaver. Thanks!
Rich amber pour with a small offwhite head and a balanced nose of hops and malt. Found it a bit watery and slightly thin, but with a decent balanced flavor and what seemed to be some alcohol peeking through. Nice and drinkable, but not quite what I was expecting.

Pours a nice amber color with a good white head that hung around for a while. Aroma is hoppy and begs you to drink it. Flavor is of caramel that is balanced by the hoppiness. This is smooth and drinkability is high. This improved drastically as it warmed. This is a nice beer. Will have again.
