Commercial Description:
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

Tasty on tap... other than I had this just before Scratch #4... I thought it was hoppy. However, it’s well balanced, but too bitter for me to act as a session beer. However, having it server at the brewery was a treat because, with hopped ales, it’s best served fresh. Nice mouthfeel (not to chewy, not too thin), well balanced taste, albeit a bitt more hop bitter than a traditional amber ale. (On Tap 10/13/2007)

This has become one of my favorite beers. It pours a deep copper color with a thick, white head. The aroma is wonderful, full of floral/citrusy/spicy hop notes. The flavor is very hoppy, but it is a citrusy/grapefruit flavor, with just a tiny bit of bitterness. I find this to be a very distinctive, very enjoyable beer.

Red in color with little translucense. You can spell the hops long before your first sip. The taste is very much what the aroma suggests. It is a nice hoppy beer with a smooth finish.

From the bottle into pint glass. I was immediately impressed with the BIG hoppy aroma during the pour. Nice thick head slowly dissipated with lingering lace. True to its name, this beer is full of hop flavor. Slightly bitter finish, but not overly so. Mouthfeel left me wanting a little, but, overall, a nice beer.

Not the best of the Troeg products by any means, but certainly a decent beer, especialy for a low price everyday beer.Mainly notes of caramel and such with some grapefruit notes as well but nothing special

wow that is nice. very clean wood accent with a beautiful tasting hop character that includes floral pine and grapefruit rind accents in very good proportion. beer is really creamy yet refreshng (probably the beautiful flavor). wow thats a nice substantive and really classy brew. no hint of alcohol.

Troegs doesn’t disappoint with lovers of light hoppy beers with this one. Nice light start with a very hoppy aftertaste. Light color and texture give away later to a good strong aftertaste that leaves you craving more.

poured into a pint. pours a bubbly red copper amber with good white head. sweet hoppy aroma. smooth malty front with sweet hoppy backgrounds to a light finish. not much bitterness from hops, but sweet lingering aftertaste. good, yet more aromatic than flavor from the hops, light and sessionable.
