alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Jan 31, 2007 Color was a nice auburn-orange; with a medium white head. Floral, earthy hop aroma; caramel malt. Taste has a strong malt background; some moderate earthy hop presence. Pretty good palate. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jan 30, 2007 Earthy hops and light malt aromas. Brown and orange in color with an off-white head. Pretty full mouthfeel for an amber ale. Refreshing taste with good malt presence and earthy hops that provide a decent bite in the finish. Surprisingly good for a style that I don’t enjoy that much. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Jan 24, 2007 12oz bottle (thanks to The Epeeist) poured a clear amber with nice head. Aromas of rich caramel malts and some floral hops. Taste is strongly malted with a moderate amount of hop bitterness and flavor. Smooth and very easy drinking, but with a name like Hopback I would like to see more of a hop finish. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Jan 22, 2007 Got some strong malts and hops in the aroma.Pours dark copper with a medium off white head.Prety good balance of malt and hops.Medium mouthfeel with with a bitter finish. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jan 5, 2007 Pours orangy pink hued amberwith whit head, diminishing head. Fruity malt and floral hops round this aroma out. Smooth and slightly sweet. Subdued carbonation, but a smooth creamy body. Not liquidy at all. Nice for a session in terms of body though. The flavors are a step down from the aroma. Fruity and floral hops, with light caramel malt. There’s some toast in here. The finish is fruity, while the aftertaste toasty. Not a bad beer, but nothing remarkable. I don’t see how their Nugget Nectar is an amped up version of this beer. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Jan 5, 2007 Updated: Aug 28, 2008Bottle. Intense hop oil aroma over slight caramel. Amber pour with a creamy and foamy beige/tan head. Starts off with normal Amber character, mild and caramelly with a lightish body, and promptly changes into something of a miniature hop bomb with balanced bitterness and caramel - appropriately named! Quaffable, session stuff. Dusty hops. Touch of dry yeast in the smooth aftertaste. Darkish maltiness. Mf is creamy smooth and a bit sudsy. Floral sudsiness. Rounded and controlled. Might be the dryest Amber I’ll ever taste, esp. in a style known for sweetness. Somewhat original, quite an achievement.
MAN this is yummy! Up two-tenths. bigboob (9), Greensburg, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jan 2, 2007 From a 12 oz bottle to a shaker the brew exhibited a light amber- orange color with a frothy tan head. A definite NW US hop aroma is present (cascade? centennial?). The first taste results in a medium bodied beverage with a creamy texture. A very hoppy taste with a finish that is long and gently diminishing. The head has shown a lasting ability with nice lacing down to the end. As a self-proclaimed "hophead", I must say that this is an excellent introduction to more seriously hopped brews. millysdaddy (67), Alexandria, Virginia, USA Jan 1, 2007 Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Reddish, golden-orange color. Off white head that died down quickly. Nice, hoppy aroma with pine and floral notes. Crisp bitterness but well balanced. A good all around brew where hop flavor and aroma are featured.
