I find the aroma to be toasted and bread-like. Deliciously thick in body with an appropriate amount of hops to make this interesting, yet not overdone. Great complement of bitterness to accentuate the caramel toffee flavor. Easily my favorite so far of the Tröegs family. notalush (2645), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2006 A wonderfully bready, chewy amber ale - lots of bright, fruity esters in the aroma - some pine sap - faint caramel malt and a doughy quality add a nice counterpoint to the medium hop profile - perhaps a bit too strong to be a session beer, but I would use it as one anyway. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 10, 2006 Dark amber/red/orange body with barely any head at all. The aroma is filled with hops - crisp, inviting and refreshing. The same can be said for the flavor. Also present are strong herbal qualities and something earthy too. Nice, bitter finish. FInishes very clean. adrian910ss (1410), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2006 Pours an amber coppery color with a small white head. Aroma is of floral hops with a hint of pine. Flavor is hoppy with floral overtones and hints of faint citrus and pine. Very good overall. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Sweet hoppy aroma escapes from the ale.
Apearance is a nice amber color with thin head.
Taste is hoppy and sweet but feels like it is lacking something to really make this a special ale.
Good ale though.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2006 Pours with a rich amber color, which is brilliantly clear and lightly carbonated. It is topped by a frothy, initially just over a finger thick, tan color head. The aroma is nicely hoppy with a nice mix of dominant pine notes and a light grapefruit citrus character. There are some lightly malty notes underneath the hop character; toasted malt and sweet caramel.
The beer is sweet up front, which accents the citrusy hop character. The hops have a tight grip on the palate; sharp and herbal with a solid bitterness that lingers on through to a long finish. This is nicely hoppy, just what I needed this afternoon. Fairly malty as well, with a solid backdrop, which helps to accentuate and balance out the hops. Both a malt sweetness and a toasted almost baked malt character. Quite a tasty beer, and as is the sign of any good beer it seems to disappear from my glass long before I want it to. The flavor is sweet and again dominated by caramel and hops, while the body is a bit thin. Miksu (2218), Jyväskylä, Finland
