jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2006 Updated: Aug 23, 200612 oz. bottle: This is a great Amber Ale. It has a great bitter taste, less bitter than an IPA of bitter, but has a lot of good hop character. Has a great Amber color like its name says, and the aroma is spicy. re-rate tap in tasting room: A lovely ale, sharp nose of hops that is fruity. amber color with gererous head and tremendous lacing. inital taste is full of appricots, some spice and full malt backbone. smooth medium palate. Cask: inch and a half head that doesn’t go down too much. aroma is all spice like herbal tea with malt background. flavor was full of fruity hopi goodness. Could taste some apricot. There was also a lot of taste of spicy herbal tea. that’s all I could really think about when I tatsted it. The palate was full of yeast clumps that were interesting. not bad not good, but interesting.
Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 9, 2006 Amber ale with a light off-white head. Light malty aroma with nice hops. Good crisp malt and floral hops, with nice grapefruit notes. Medium bodied. Mondial 2005. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 9, 2006 Growler. Grapefruit juice - tangy, zesty, extremely fresh. I would drink this from the growler whenever possible. It’s almost hopthick. Smooth, even tastes nice as it warms up to room temp. Nice frothy lasting head (full of tang), truly amber, hoppier than some pale ales. Made with nugget and liberty hops... damienv10 (108), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 4, 2006 I’ll spare everyone with the details this time. This is essentially a pleasant slightly malty amber ale with a fairly long nutty finish and a hint of hops. OldGrowth (1407), North Carolina, USA Dec 28, 2005 Bottle, from trade with The Beer God. O nose, sweet & sour. Orange, grapefruit, caramel, sourdough, grassy. Clean orangy copper color, ok head and a little lacing. Bitter flavors, like aroma with grapefruit steppin up, got a little nuttiness too. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, Sour bitter finish. Tasty amber, had a little of what I call a sour dough thing that I’m not crazy about. Thanks TBG shanereid (75), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Dec 18, 2005 Can’t say I liked this one. Had high expectations based on the brewery’s rep and the reviews. Not my style, possibly bad bottle (?). A very, very full flavour but something intensely wrong with the hops. Almost sour. Handle (10), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 15, 2005 Loads of gratefruit and orange even. I really think this is a FANTASTIC beer! It is the prefect beer to bring over to a friends house to have a good time. Just bring more that one six pack...ah, make that a case. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Dec 15, 2005 Copper Coloring with White Head. Floral Hop Aroma..Dry Hop Taste. Simple Brew but a Hop Tasty One at That.
