kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 13, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper, fizzy bone-white 1/4" head, and generous amounts of carbonation. Nice floral hop aroma with an underlying sweet and toasty malt base. Flavor is of toasted malt, slightly sweet, with a well balanced hop bitterness. Finish is long with a complex hop profile. Medium bodied. This is really trying to have a creamy mouthfeel but the forced carbonation fizzyness prevents it. Pretty good beer but heavy filtration has robbed the life from this and left behind a shadow of what it could be. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 11, 2005 Pours a nice dark amber color with the perfect amount of froathy offwhite head that stays forever. Looks absolutely delicious. Aroma is a very nice sweet floral citrus smell, slightly caramely and piney at the same time. also delicious. Now time for the taste: flavor starts malty, sweet, and caramely then shifts geers into a pretty hoppy citrus flavor then back into a nice smooth hop/caramel finish. Overall, i found this to be extremely good. fatty (363), Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 3, 2005 Pours clear golden amber with thin white ringing head. Pine hop, citrus aroma. Pine, grapefruit, bitter hop flavor. Smooth palate. alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 3, 2005 Solid amber color with quickly dissipating head. Tastes of hops and some caramel. Not strong on the spices, but still a worthy choice. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Dec 2, 2005 12 oz. bottle thanks to Kramer17801. Deep amber color with a decent head. Aromas were citrus and vanilla. Flavors were very hoppy. I could have mistook this for an IPA in a blind taste test. Very hoppy on the finish too. Good stuff. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Nov 30, 2005 Dark copper color with a thin head. Dry hop aroma (Saaz?). Slightly bitter taste, but pretty none existant overall. JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 27, 2005 I’m rethinking the amber category after the last beer I rated. This one has a good balance, a nice woodsy hoppy taste, a pleasant flowery aroma with bitter notes and is pretty drinkable. If there is a downside, its a bit too drinkable and maybe it could be hopped up a bit more. It seems more like a slightly watered down IPA than a so-called amber ale but that isn’t a bad thing. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2005 Well, I have high hopes for this brew as it rates about as good as an amber ale can. The beer pours to a nice orange brassy body with a large dense and creamy off-white head. I used a Pilsener glass and it holds the head quite well. Leaves gorgeous lacing and shows off the carbonation in the body. The aroma is full of grapefruit and lemons with some nice floral hops. Light but apparent pine sap. The flavor is a balanced caramel and pine hops. Nice fresh hoppiness and medium bodied and very easy drinking. If I lived in Pennsylvania, I’d drink lots of this.
