maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 8, 2005 Lovely clear copper color. Foamy beige head eventually falls and remains at a quarter inch, leaving a ring of sticky lace with each sip. Outstanding woodsy/herbal hop and strong malty Assam tea aroma with suggestions of cinnamon, fresh green cornhusks, and sycamore. Flavor: muted caramel, undefineable tropical fruit, pine resin hops. Medium palate. Lemon and faintly astringent tealeaf (again) bitterness in the aftertaste. All elements in perfect zenlike harmony. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Nov 4, 2005 Updated: Jan 14, 2007Pours amber with a nice off-white head. Aroma is citrus and grassy hops. Flavor is grapefruit and spice with a nice dose of caramel. Great session brew. PeterLikesBeer (104), Berwyn Heights, Maryland, USA Nov 4, 2005 Pours an amber color with a small head. aroma is grapfruity and in general fruity. Flavor is sweet with a nice mouthfeel. It is missing some hops though. nevertheless this is a good beer. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Nov 3, 2005 Bottle courtesy of BuckNaked. Pours a bright copper color with nice rocky white head. Aroma well ballanced sweet caramel malt and piney hops. Flavor much the same, but the hop-resin-spiciness is much more pronounced. Individual scores aren’t the greatest, but overall this is a very nice session brew. Pleasantly surprised. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Nov 2, 2005 Well, I’ve seen it a million times, finally tried it. Now I may have found that everyday beer. Pours out a very nice amber color with a nice head. Hoppy aroma. Taste is very balanced with a good amount of hops, a very drinkable beer. I enjoyed this one StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 2, 2005 Deep copper in color and brilliant magnifying clarity with a dusty grey head. Hops forward aroma accented by grass, freesia, honey, hazelnut syrup, maple and caramelized nuts. Flavor delivers with formidable bitterness levels and malt sweetening. Tingly pine sprits blankets the palate and then steps aside for a toasty and caramel malt backbone that hits the session spot. Caramel and toffee play a prominent, nearly sugary, role. Sweet resin and moderate rye similarities help to impart a smooth sensation that’s void of astringency (thank Christ.) Medium bodied and remarkably well-balanced. Such a sweet, tasty treat all around and one of the best ambers I’ve ever had. Thanks for the bottle, Thaichile! TChrome (1296), Bedford, Texas, USA Nov 1, 2005 Rich amber color with a mostly diminishing beige colored head. Aroma is very hoppy in a piney way. This is an amber? Flavor is also grapefruit juice with a bit of caramel malt balance. Wonderful hop concontion. Probably not an amber, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. Thanks Jason. altkencru (143), USA Nov 1, 2005 A solid brew. Pretty good balance with the hops and malt, although I’d prefer it a little more hoppy.
