COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

a: rubyamber color, nice frothy head with pretty good retention. Reduces to lacing and rings around the glass s: citrus hop aroma hits like a sledgehammer, hint of caramalized malt t: carmel malts not as much hop flavor as I was expecting from the smell. I notice a bit of pine taste. m&d: smooth and pretty well balanced. medium bodied, this beer is an awesome session brew.

floral aromas dominate this copper colored amber ale. lacing is good but doesn’t linger, head is minimal. initial sweet maltiness is followed up by the floral hops which give it a nice light bitterness which doesn’t linger. I think its a great beer for ipa lovers who maybe want to enjoy another style and still feel a little bit of an ipa’s bitterness.

Bouteille 330 ml. Achetée au Half Time (Poughkeepsie).

Bottle from sampler pack. This was my favorite of the four styles. Pours a nice, dark amber. Aroma has plenty of dark fruit, floral hops, caramel and cereal malts, and light toast. Flavor was great; sweet malts and dark fruit esters expected from an amber, but the nice addition of hops sets it apart.

Pours an awesome glowing orange-crimson with a thick, creamy khaki head that settles slowly and leaves some hanging lace. Nose includes some pine resin, mango, pineapple, candied orange, some spice and floral notes, and sweet caramel notes. Taste is fairly sweet but plenty bitter. Medium bodied, pretty actively carbed, with a substantially long bitter finish. Even at 5 months old, this has held up very well. Perhaps the nose would pop a little more with hop notes were it super fresh, but I’m very happy with it as is. A good go to brew for those in the distribution footprint.

Not bad dark amber color. It's hoppy but not as much as expected. It has some fruity bad notes which smooths out the hop ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Smelling of pine, resin and hay.
Appearance: A clear amber colored beer. A off-white head with good lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting bread, grape-fruit, pine and citric peel.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft and oily texture. A big body with a somewhat dry finish.
Overall: Nice forest, maybe more IPA than amber.
Note: On-tap at Logan (BOS). Reviewed 2013-04-01.

Bottle pour. Great mix of amber and hoppy IPA style. Nice citrus with a toasty malt background. Good amount of citrus, floral, without too bitter. Honey, biscuit, toasty malts. Gorgeous color. Perfect early spring beer, just enough hops, but not huge IBU’s. Nice work troegs.

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. Big hoppy nose. Strong malt backbone balances it out. A notch below Nugget Nectar and Perpetual but very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
