Commercial Description:
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

Poured a clear effervescent amber with a small off-white head. Clean hop aroma. Taste is citrusy hops, with a touch of sweetness and a very clean finish. Tastes just a few hops shy of an APA. Very drinkable amber ale... an excellent session brew.

Ehhh...just didn’t do it for me. Pour was dark amber, little head or lacing. The flavor was heavy grapefruit with some caramel/toffee sweetness that seemed out of place. I just didn’t like it. Got even sweeter and more grapefruity as it warmed and the two flavors just didn’t "go" in my opinion.

Found this one bottled as part of a multi-pack in Cherry Hill, Ney Jersey. Very potent piney and rosey hoppiness, spicy, tounge-tingly alcoholic, strong finish.

Thanks to my pal up in Philly, dberger624, for sending me this Toregs brew!

Pours a handsome amber / copper colored body with a bountiful tan colored head, there are sheets of lacing all over the place!
The aroma and flavor are thick with Cyprus and Pine tree mulch. Exceptionally spicy with that huge hoppy backbone, some black pepper; there are also terrific maltyness here, Great notes of caramel. The palate is very nice and oily… I really am enjoying this brew! I would think it would be more widely talked about than it is?

From a bottle poured amber with a good amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor, kinda sweet, with nice lasting aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle. Clear coppery hue under a medium light beige head leaving a decent lace. Aroma of light brown sugar, grain, peppery spice. Medium body with a pleasing light chewiness. Mostly caramel sweetness up front with a very soft bitterness coming in at the end. Finish is balanced, with a slowly developing dryness. This is a pretty good amber. It has some character, whereas most ambers are non-descript.

Quite hoppy, but with a nice malty background too. Excellent beer for just drinking a few of, and went well to balance the wings i was eating at the time.
