From 12 oz bottle. Taste of malt and hops. Taste of caramel. The bottle indicates that there is spice in here, if so it was not very prevalent. A pretty good beer, but in my opinion it is a bit overrated.

Hop aroma was stronger than the hop taste. * Had this at a beer club meeting with many other beers, hence I don't remember all my comments - only the ratings which I wrote down at the time.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Good hop aroma with a subtle background of malt. Hop and malt are pretty well balanced. The texture is good with some butter cut by hop acidity. The taste is balanced, just a little bit heavy on the hop bitters.

Pours a nice dark amber, with ample head. Rich heavy flavor with the hops coming through strongly. Great beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is quite hoppy, seems to be a touch of malt. Beer is clear, with a small head a few minutes after pouring. Good color for an amber. Flavor is quite hoppy, a good amount of bitterness, all well balanced with the malt flavor. Like an amber IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Red color with a half finger off-white head with pretty good retention. Smells very earthy, malt almost more prominent than bittered hops, bread yeast, amber malt and caramel. Taste of amber malt, light pine hop flavor and a light citrus hop flavor.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very nice amber pour. Balanced; not heavy on the hop aroma or flavor. Probably unfair to review this one after Alpha King. Nice caramel malt. Slightly hoppy finish. I liked it and will seek it out again though...

Nice amber color on pour and a wonderful citrus, floral, caramel blend to the flavor. Love the taste blend on this one!! Another big win for Troegs!

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can’t say I liked this one. Had high expectations based on the brewery’s rep and the reviews. Not my style, possibly bad bottle (?). A very, very full flavour but something intensely wrong with the hops. Almost sour.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the bottle into pint glass. I was immediately impressed with the BIG hoppy aroma during the pour. Nice thick head slowly dissipated with lingering lace. True to its name, this beer is full of hop flavor. Slightly bitter finish, but not overly so. Mouthfeel left me wanting a little, but, overall, a nice beer.
