Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

This beer is one of my new "goto’s". If I’m standing at the distributor and can’t pick between two or three beers, i’ll just grab a case of this. Can’t go wrong.

I picked up a six of this in DE a few years ago and loved it. Hippy, malty, amazing. Picked up another six for thanksgiving and its missing a lot of the hoppiness. Still a great session IPA though.

Bottle. Floral aroma, deep amber color, minimal head. Medium flavor, medium body, creamy texture and fizzy carbonation with a long finish. Enjoyed, a bit hoppy with a long, hoppy finish.

On draft at Rhodeside Grill in Arlington VA. Delicious amber ale with an amber pour with minimal head. Slightly bitter taste but it made me fart so it's all good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle dated 06.19.08 at about 40 degrees. Half an inch of of off-white head that dissipated a little too quickly. A very nice dark amber-red color. A sweet and subtle aroma -- a little too subtle for my taste. It had a perfect amount of hoppiness and a very smooth, almost syrupy body. Pumpkin and toffee notes and a pleasantly dry finish. Precisely what keeps me from disparaging this beer also keeps me from praising it; it’s too subtle in many ways, almost intentionally restrained, though that may be the result of it being below optimal temperature. All in all, though, a picture-perfect example of a quality amber ale.

Troegs is just one of those breweries that just makes good beer. this beer pours a really great amber color such that is suggested by the name The balance of hops and malts in this beer makes it smooth and easy to drink. I wish we could get it out here in Chicago. The aroma is clean with a very good hop nose to it with malty undertones I really like this beer.

Draft at Churchkey, but this was a cask dry-hopped with palisades hops. Light brown iced tea color. No head (probably due to the cask). Smells faintly resiny but also has some honey and sweetness. Very thin palette, piney hops and some floral/grassy notes on the back palette. Pretty good, but I wouldn’t necessarily say what I experienced is indicative of all of Hopback.

This has become one of my favorite beers. It pours a deep copper color with a thick, white head. The aroma is wonderful, full of floral/citrusy/spicy hop notes. The flavor is very hoppy, but it is a citrusy/grapefruit flavor, with just a tiny bit of bitterness. I find this to be a very distinctive, very enjoyable beer.

Bottled. An elegant aromatic bouquet. Pours a dark umber hue with creamy opalescent head. Ambrosial profuse flavor; mellifluous malt succeeded by a perfect efflorescent hop presence with hints of vanilla and a slight bitter nuttiness.
