COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Troegs HopBack Amber gets its unique name and taste from the HopBack Vessel in our brewhouse. Packed full of whole flower hops, each batch circulates through the vessel, creating a fresh hoppy aroma, spicy taste and rich caramel note that defines this signature amber ale.

Loads of gratefruit and orange even. I really think this is a FANTASTIC beer! It is the prefect beer to bring over to a friends house to have a good time. Just bring more that one six pack...ah, make that a case.

On tap: Reddish amber color. Citric, yeasty and caramel aroma. Earthy/grassy hop flavor alongside some light toffee. ThIs has a little bit of everything going on, really nice amber ale in my book.

Sample on tap @ the brewery. Pours a clear dark amber with a thin white ring. Not much of an aroma. Pretty plain and ordinary without much flavor or aftertaste. Disappointing.

Bread yeast aromas. Pours red gold with an off white head. Nice notes of leather and apricot. Short finish. Low carbonation. Good Amber.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2016 Copper pour minimal head. Lacking aroma. Muddied hop bitter with anise. Strong bitter finish and aftertaste. Didn?t feel it matched the commercial description at all. Not grapefruit or Floral notes. I had to double check they labeled the sample right.

Nice amber color with a white head. Slight malty aroma. Very malty beer with good hop bitterness and a hint of licorice.

On tap at Poe House. So much better than expected- both for the brewery and the style. Well balanced - has the right caramel notes for an amber but doesn’t drink overly sweet. Spicy pine and flowers from the hops. Bit of earth as well. One of the better ambers I have had in awhile.

Brown red pour with a faint caramel aroma. Flavor is earthy, a bit sweet and some nice maltiness.wasn’t really that hoppy forward to me, quite malty. Still, quite good.

355ml bottle. Amber with one finger off white head. Aroma is caramel, orange, zesty grapefruit and citrus. Similar taste with initial caramel sweetness followed by orange and citrus and ending in bitter citrus. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Flight shared with ebone1988 at the brewery. The pour is a pale golden orange with a thin ring of gray head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma smells like a cat got wet and is air drying. It’s musty, dusty, and not good. There is a sweet maltiness just going on in the background that i don’t care for. The flavor is also not good. There is a nerds candy flavor as if it were mixed with water. There is a light malt and it’s pretty basic otherwise. It’s a bit disappointing. The mouth feel is weird. It’s thicker, but watery at the same time. The carbonation is light and allows it to fall right off the tongue. The aftertaste is lingering malt and candy sweetness.
