COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
JavaHead Stout, first released as Scratch 15, contains a blend of locally roasted espresso and Kenyan coffee beans by St. Thomas Roasters in Linglestown, PA.

This recipe is based off of our original 2005 oatmeal stout. After the boil the hot wort passes through our hopback vessel packed full of whole leaf hops and a bed of coffee beans - akin to a French press - intensifying the coffee nose and releasing hints of coffee flavor. The result is a lush oatmeal mouthfeel balanced with cocoa, roast and subtle coffee flavors.

Bottle brought from Vintage Estate by ck1, thanks bro! Pours opaque black with brownish, slightly foamy head. Great lacing! Aroma has dark roast coffee beans, toffee and some vinious fruit - all a bit subtle. Taste brings roasted malts, coffee, some oatmeal, and sweet caramel. Alcohol well hidden. Finishes solidly bitter and a bit sweet. Could be thicker. Thanks for the 4 pack of Troegs! We just need to time Nugget Necktar.

Flavor is heavy roasted and chocolate malts, light earthy hops, and some dark fruit esters; dry, coffee finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.

Aroma of iron, coffee, and light chocolate malt. Pours black with a medium fluffy head. Tastes nice and dark with coffee, pine, and a decent coffee aftertaste. Mouthfeel is thinner than usual for this kind of beer but pleasant. Nice one.

Bottle. Pours black with a thick brown head that nearly jumped out of the pint glass. Smells of coffee beans.. a trace of vanilla. Taste is lighter than you’d think with a coffee bitterness.. with mild alcohol on the finish. Overall, a really good coffee stout that is a little lighter than the top performers in the category. I approve.

12 oz bottle via trade. One of the highest ratest aromas ever for me - best roast aroma; wow; some coffee and cocoa and alcohol. dark pour with no head. average mouthfeel. Taste was of much roasted stout; slight cocoa and I didn’t get any coffee??? Still a solid stout!! oatmeal kept it smoov!!
