3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: Pours a very, very dark red color that has small amounts of light coming through the glass and a three finger mocha head. Great lacing, but only average retention.
S: Roast, coffee, a hint of chocolate, and oaky notes. Not as nice as FBS, but it still works well.
T: About three months of age and a warmer serving temperature seemed to smooth out the roasted coffee notes, and made the hop character a bit more prevalent, which is slightly amazing considering. The faint, piny hop bite on the end really helps its drinkability. Still, it could use more chocolate notes on the front end, and it’s a little too mellow for its own good.
M: Very smooth, but a little thin bodied. The finish is bitterly dry, but doesn’t linger on the palate like it could. Much like FBS, it drinks like a good porter instead of a good stout.
O: It seems almost unfair to compare this to FBS, but since it’s such a benchmark for coffee stouts, this really has no choice but to do so. Fresh, it’s only decent, but a little age helped smooth out some of the harsher notes to make it wonderfully drinkable. Of course, it’s still not a FBS killer by any stretch, but still a nice stout.

Its pleasant but not exciting. Fairly light body, 7.5% does not present itself. Nor does many flavors. Soled beer, less than average stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2013/11/14 - Pours an opaque, dark brown-cola colour, with a thick, frothy, tan head that reduces to a lasting surface film and leaves ample lacing. A suspended sediment is also visible. Aroma is roasted coffee, cocoa, molasses and caramel. Taste is mainly roasted coffee, with minor cocoa and sweet malt notes. Finish is bitter coffee and hops. Mouthfeel is medium and oily with average carbonation and a short, drying finish. Almost no aftertaste. Anyone who enjoys strong coffee will enjoy this brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black sasparilla body with a poofy chocolate root beer float head. Toasty caramel coffee nose with cocoa flairs. Smooth espresso chocolate caramel cream body, like a sweet macchiato. Smooth, flavorful, and on the sweet-side with just a pinch of bitter-chocolate on the finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from bottleselect.com. Pours dark brown/black with a slight tan head. Aroma is espresso. Med body or slightly better. Flavor is coffee. Even a little like sucking on a coffee bean. There’s very dark malt. There are indications of hop. But it’s mainly about a very firm coffee - start to finish. Very nicely done.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours almost black with a touch of brown. A finger of frothy tan head fades to a thin layer that stays a while. Generous lacing. Aroma is espresso with roasted malts and a touch of hop. Taste is sweet and notes of fruit - banana maybe - and cream come through. Somewhat bitter aftertaste. Full bodied, creamy brew. Very nice!
