COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
JavaHead Stout, first released as Scratch 15, contains a blend of locally roasted espresso and Kenyan coffee beans by St. Thomas Roasters in Linglestown, PA.

This recipe is based off of our original 2005 oatmeal stout. After the boil the hot wort passes through our hopback vessel packed full of whole leaf hops and a bed of coffee beans - akin to a French press - intensifying the coffee nose and releasing hints of coffee flavor. The result is a lush oatmeal mouthfeel balanced with cocoa, roast and subtle coffee flavors.

On tap at Red Robin near Hersheypark. Black with creamy off white head that has good retention, and leaves plenty of lacing. Nose of chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is unmistakably coffee...along with some roasted malts, some bitter hops and a touch of alcohol. An excellent coffee stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

As with other Troegs beers its a bit hoppy. Coffee taste is a little too strong and has a heavy after taste. Not bad for a once in a while but not anything you would want to drink on a regular basis

Drought. Pours dark brown with small foamy beige head, coffee beans aroma, low carbonation, sweetish coffee taste, long finish. The sweet taste is a bit too strong.

Layers of sweet bready malt. Chocolate, low roast. Coffee is nicely balanced but maybe a little bitter. Good one, pretty drinkable, but an A-/B+ for me.

Bitter java stout, with a pungent pine and resin character. Lots of coffee, too, with a bitter roast to it.

Black body with little to no head. Roasted malt, coffee aroma. Tastes mostly of coffee and roasted malt. Strong bitter, roasted malt, licorice aftertaste. Medium bodied, creamy, softly carbonated palate.

Bottle. Pours a dark black with no head. Aroma is coffee, lots of dark chocolate. Flavor is dark chocolate sweetness up front with coffee bitterness to the finish. Not boozy at all. While clearly not an imperial stout, it’s very good and doesn’t have that wateriness that some weaker stouts sometimes have. Decent mouthfeel not as creamy as I’d like but understandable given that this isn’t a milk stout.

Dark brown-black with a nice beige creamy head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and grassy hops. Taste - sweet, roasted malts, coffee, straw, low-medium bitterness, quite tasty. Medium-bodied, creamy texture. Easy drinking. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pours dark brown, nearly black with a thin creme colored head that lingers. smells like a chocolate shake. Thick and chewy with a mild coffee flavor. Slightly bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at mellow mushroom. Color is perfect dark brown almost black. Nose is smoke and espresso with sugar. Full body and thick. Full coffee up front and it powers thru. A very good if not great coffee stout. ---Rated via my mouth

Pours a dark brown, deep tan head, aroma of dark roasted malt and coffee. Also something strange I cannot put my finger on. Taste smooth, sweet, slight bitterness, coffee undertones. Nice.
