COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
JavaHead Stout, first released as Scratch 15, contains a blend of locally roasted espresso and Kenyan coffee beans by St. Thomas Roasters in Linglestown, PA.

This recipe is based off of our original 2005 oatmeal stout. After the boil the hot wort passes through our hopback vessel packed full of whole leaf hops and a bed of coffee beans - akin to a French press - intensifying the coffee nose and releasing hints of coffee flavor. The result is a lush oatmeal mouthfeel balanced with cocoa, roast and subtle coffee flavors.

This is a well-balanced stout. Slightly sweet, more sweet than dry, but the sweetness is not bad. Flavors stay up front of mouth, not much of a full palate either. Not a bad brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark, thick, brown head. Smells like coffee. Easy to swallow. Creamy. Probably coildnt take 6 at once, but one is pretty doable.

A typical coffee stout; dark and smooth, but with a slight bitter finish.

Bottle at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, PA. This is liquid coffee. I enjoyed it hanging out before a concert next to a scoop of ice cream, and it was perfect for the moment.

Smells fantastic, and pours dark. When they call it a coffee stout, they are not kidding around. The coffee flavour practically punches you in the face, leaving the beer taste behind. Very bitter, like espresso. I’m sure some people who are into coffee would love this, but I can’t say I enjoyed it.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Pours almost opaque brown to black with a beige head, aroma of coffee, roast, malt, dark bread, flavor is lightly smoked with coffee, cocoa, pleasant sweetness, medium bodied, nice

First off, this looks perfect. Black with with big pillowy tan head. Aroma is light and is creamy coffee. Some chocolate. Taste roasty coffee flavor. Pretty straight forward, basic, but enjoyable with well hidden alcohol on the high end for a session stout.

12 oz. bottle, bonused to me by BrewtopiaofPJ (thanks Mark), pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out coffee beans upfront, along with some lactose notes, and some hearty oats. Flavour brings out a combination of a cold cup of coffee, oatmeal and a light lactose quality. Finishes on notes of coffee and mild oats. There is a mild sweetness to balance out the other flavours as well. Medium-bodied, but not very complex, but still mildly enjoyable and sessionable - no hint of the ABV. Good stuff.

Pours very black, with brown edges, with a thicker mocha head that settles slowly and leaves some soapy lace. Nose includes vanilla, some dark fruit, dar chocolate, brown sugar, and light coffee. Mostly sweet, but a fair bitterness to balance. Heavier side of medium bodied, full, creamy, slick, softer carb, with a lengthy toasty dry coffee bitter finish. Nice brew, the coffee isn’t big on the nose, but the it comes through in the flavor and on the back end.

Bottle. Dark mocha pour with slim head. Coffee, lead. Refreshing initially and coffee and slight bitterness kicks in. Very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Good aroma of coffee and even taste much coffee. Long aftertaste of coffee too. Good beer anyway I think.
