3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/7/2015. Pours slightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, pepper, pear, apple, red grape, honey, brown sugar, gingerbread, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, pumpkin/spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, pepper, pear, apple, red grape, honey, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Moderate amount of herbal/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, pepper, pear, apple, red grape, honey, brown sugar, gingerbread, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, pumpkin/spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Some light dryness from peppery yeast/spice notes as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly creamy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pumpkin saison style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, pumpkin/spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled from a 12.7 oz corked brown bottle this beer poured a murky brown color with a medium sized foamy orange-tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was vegetal and malty with sour caramel and vague spices. The flavor was tangy and vegetal with sour caramel and vague spices. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied. Meh.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a clear medium amber with a garnet cast (copper with red). Normal head volume and retention, poor lacing.
Almost world class nose of clove, cinnamon and nutmeg with a subtle pumpkin over a rich base of toasted biscuit with a strong caramel influence.
Heavy light body that is smooth. Perfect carbonation with a burst of effervescence in the middle and a finely bubbled prickly finish.
The flavor profile is outstanding. Had the alcohol been completely covered, it would be world class. Intensity is spot on, but balance and complexity is where this beer shines like a jack-o-lantern on a cold dark witchy night. It begins with a blended spice flavor over a rich toasty malt base that comes just to the sweetness threshold. Cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg lead. By the middle, clove arrives and becomes dominate over the malt base that now has a caramel influence. The middle also provides the strongest pumpkin influence which had been creeping to the forefront. Bitterness is more of a tickle that provides balance. The finish allows alcohol to be noted as the slow fade of mostly clove lingers. As the finish lingers, dryness is quite evident and ginger provides it’s strongest influence.
